VCDS Experiences?
« on: 01 September 2015, 09:49:27 »

Father in Laws 2010 Golf has the airbag light on, and needs service light resetting.

Rather than pay someone 60 ,70 + to read and reset, he is thinking about buying me VCDS for about £270 so I can do it now, and in the future.

Anyone got any experience with it?  Worth having?  Better / cheaper options?

Cheers

I had an Ebay cable and downloaded the free Rosstech software, when I had my vRS. Worked for me, so worth a look...

Probably need the latest for a 2010 car, not the earlier freebies.

I vaguely recall an issue with one of the Vagcom products (might have been vagcom not vcds though, or may have been a car fault) where diagnosing the SRS system would permanently destroy the ECU.

Certain models only with a bug in the vw software. new vcds sotware now warns before commencing interrogation of known iffy units.
