On tv they just rip a loomfull of wires out from behind the steering wheel column and then spark a blue with a red wire and the car starts! Seen it times .

Bingo! You need physical access to the keys. The whole idea of keys, in fact.

Yep, the article is talking keyless entry and the Fiesta and Focus are incredibly easy to get when equipped with it. The Corsa scored well as keyless entry is not an option

Just put your car keys onto separate keyrings & store in a tin (or a metal key press) that acts as a Faraday cage & that defeats any long range scanners or use an alternative mechanical locking device.

A Krooklok on a steering wheel did stop the theft of a Renault 19 from my front garden, but the did write off the steering wheel in the process where cars were regularly disappearing in the area, at the time, until the government clamped down on scrapyards.

Anything that stops an easy theft normally means the will nick somebody else's instead.

But while it's an option on Mercs etc , keyless entry & ignition is standard on some ie you get it whether you want it or not

Yes, that's how security works. The trick is making it secure enough without compromising usability - and durability is a big part of that. Electronic keys seem to be a lot less reliable than mechanical ones, and I'm not a fan.

I knew a bloke who went to Brighton in his Dads Escort. He noticed an almost identical one parked a few yards away.
Later in the day he was shocked to find his car wasn't where he left it, although the other one was still parked in the same spot.
He went to find a police station to report the car stolen, but when he came back to the scene with the police, his car was back where he left it and the other Escort had gone.
Only explanation was that the other driver got in his car and drove off. Then realised they were driving the wrong car, so came back and swapped over.

Fancy inadvertently stealing a car.. and then discovering it's a Marina.

Still, could have been worse... It could have been Sir Tigger's, complete with footprints on the windscreen and dodgy stains on the back seat. Allegedly.

As I own a Corsa Van I can insure you that putting a Brick through the Drivers Door and rear Tailgate Screen is no different to any other Car. 

On mine they do have a feature where the Key and Remote only unlocks the Drivers Door, you have to unlock twice to fully open. Which is a real pain in the arse when youve already started the engine and now have to remove the Key from the Ing. to gain entry to the other doors. Not sure if this is a Van feature or all Corsa C's do this.

Right ok Dave, couldnt remember as I drove somebody eles's Corca C a while back (real basic 1000 model) and dont remember having to do the double unlock thingy, 

Anti Hijack?, they do come out with strange features sometimes, my Veccy C, late one without the rear Hatch key lock, if it doesnt get used much, and the Battery gives up, normal thing unlock with Key, lift bonnet, lock car with Door Pins, remove Battery to Charge overnight, and the Boot is unlocked during that period without the Battery. I know what the answer is, just a pain having to get another Battery out and Jump Leads to sort it just to lock the Boot, but then youve got the Power Sounder issue over night, so I just tend to leave the Boot unlocked.

I have spares 075 (corsa,astra) and 096 (omega) batteries stat ready in case an of the fleet have a flat battery .
it's easy to leave an interior light on or side lights or whatever .
I know there are lightweight jump packs out now and technology has moved on ,but I much prefer to slap a big,fully charged battery in ,if the battery is flat or low ,then smart trickle charge the flat for stock .
having sent 2 astra G and a french turd for recycling last year during fleet updates  I've plenty of spare batteries ,and dead batteries i keep to put on scrappers ,along with bald tyres .
