If the whole statement is inaccurate, what's to elaborate... ::)

Well - I have a car pass now - arrived in the post over the weekend. Whether or not it's the correct car pass is quite another matter.

The car is booked in for another go at programming a new key a week on Saturday. If they can't do it then, then I'll tell them what I think of them  ::)

I'm quite surprised at the complexity of this programming. I don't understand why there are two programming's needed - one for the transponder, and another for the remote. If I were setting it up I'd allow the remote to be programmed in car providing a valid transponder signal was present in the ignition.
The transponder and the fob are totally unconnected (until you clip them together).

Yes - I understand that the transponder needs programming to the car (though I'm unsure if it's to the immobiliser or ECU). But - once you've done that and got a valid, programmed and recognised transponder in the ignition and the ignition turned on then the CL fob ought to be able to be synced without requiring Tech 2. After all, you've got enough there to open the car (with the key), start the car and drive it away regardless of remote C/L FOB.
Possibly a bit insecure, as I could quickly get my fob working in your car with a bit of social engineering.

Although, if programming one part, its only a few seconds to program the other part, so hardly a burden.

My offer still stands if you pass Brackley or Bletchley

Well yesterday was the day for them to have a second (and third) go at programming. Failed again.

They have ordered a new fob (p/n VX 9146043) - but not a new blade or 'chip'. So it's not the immobiliser they can't access it's the central locking. The 'fault report' states
Quote
Attempted to program Key fob, will not program. Unable to communicate to Centre  Door Lock Module and program Key.

I assume by "Centre Door Lock Module" they mean the Central Locking ECU. Anyway,  I declined their gracious offer to do some diagnostic work (@ £82.50+VAT per hour) and just took the fob and cleared off.

Anyhow - next time I'm passing Northampton, I'll pre-arrange to drop in and take advantage of The Boy's gracious offer

If it helps, I'm in Bletchley most weekdays for work, for the next 3 weeks...

And presumably you have the carpass?

Well - I've a car pass. Whether its the right car pass or not is another matter all together. I assume the Vx techie never got that far because he couldn't talk to the C/L ECU.

Most likely because he's an ejit rather than a fault of the car.  But maybe I should keep my trap shut until I've seen it, in case I'm an ejit as well ;D

Is anyone with a Tech2 capable of programing the C/L Key fob going to Billing on Sunday? I should be there 10am-5pm, in Yankee352 on the ABS stand.

Ta muchley.

May I second this?

I was about to make a new thread about this, but if anyone would like to bring their Tech2 and make a few quid to then spend at the Autojumble and on burgers on their beautiful girlfriends/wives then I'm after someone to 'do a once over' my old lady re: fobs, gearbox update, checking what servos/systems work and what don't etc...
