There's a risk with any medication. Fear mongering won't help anyone. And 90% is a massive leap from 75%.

Promising stuff :y

Promising stuff indeed, and I'm sure there are several million people who are more in need of vaccination than me, so they can go first.  :y

No need to thank me.  :)

Interesting offering. Under 50s might not even be offered it Tigger.

But.. does it stop you get CV19 and passing it on or does it just stop you being ill?

Different tech, this is an RNA vaccine. No RNA vaccine has been licensed before for use on humans.

I believe it is given in two doses too, so going to be a major exercise as a national programme

Has to be the latter, a vaccine builds immunity and immunity can only act on something you have.

Now if the virus can reproduce to a level that effective onwards transmission is possible before the immune system does its stuff, remains to be seen.

But has to be a good thing, particularly for the old and infirm isn't that right STEMO  ;D :y

Not strictly true .. the whole purpose of a vaccine is too "fool" the body into "thinking" you have the virus, it then organises its defences to fight that virus. When you actually get exposed to the "real" virus the defences kick in straight away, rather than having to learn what to do, so the virus is defeated early within your body, hopefully before you have any level of "infection".. ... that is what gives you "immunity"..

It seems that general availability, beyond healthcare workers and the elderly, is likely to be the middle of 2021.  Assuming it works as expected.

So those media outlets jerking themselves senseless that things will return to near normal this winter are encouraging the thick - aka most of the British - to act irresponsibly.
