Hi again all - am I right in thinking that if your sensor has gone (and cleaning doesn't work) it's new expansion-tank time please?
If so, are all petrol Omega expansion tanks the same please? Mine is a 3.0 MV6 2000 if this makes a difference.
Have shorted the sensor out and the error went away, there is plenty of lovely fresh coolant in there, bang on the mark.
Thank you
Alex

Yes. ;) Pretty sure they're all the same, just that some don't have the level sensor, just ask at the Vauxhall parts desk. :y

Thanks for your answers guys - so quick too!
How much wonga would you reckon on parting with to get a new one please? If it's expensive I'll try my hand at a good second-hand one and clean it up :)

Well try a de-scaler in the header tank you have to.
30ish quid rings a bell for a new one

Thanks chaps - will check it out. If £30 is what it is I'll take it ;D

Lisles of Knebworth (now Marshalls) quoted me £42 three years ago when I first got my Omega; I settled for shorting the circuit and relying upon a regular visual check - the checks need to be done anyway, even with a working sensor.

Quite correct of course always best to check yourself!

Got a new one of these today from VX - as near as makes no difference £35 inc VAT :)

Late now, I know, but worth popping the reed switch out and touching up the joints - found a couple of dry ones lately.

Thanks TB - good to know in case it happens with my new tank anyway :)
