When asked how much power a car needs to make it exciting  Carroll Shelby of AC Cobra fame would often reply with a smile  "Too much is just right"  >:D

I reckon he may well have said something similar if asked about the 625 BHP BMW M5 Competition. :)

I really like this car. :-* :-*

Nothing serious.

The plastic grill/grille in the front bumper has cracked and one of the cheap flimsy mounting attachments has broken off. They will be replacing two plastic parts at no cost to me.

Also, while the car is at BMW Boston I will be taking an extended test drive in a late 2023 M5 Competition with just 664 miles under it's wheels being sold at £35000 below its original invoice price. They have offered me an excellent P/X deal in for my car. Hmmm. ::)

It'll be a fun few hours regardless.

Our internet connection has always been poor.

It is presently run through a Huawei router.

Anyway, the name Starlink has come up as an alternative.

Anyone with experience of Starlink?....I know it's not cheap but if it works I don't mind.

Lenovo laptop.

6 months out of warranty.....but with what I believe to be a manufacturing defect or design fault that is well known and documented.

I seem to remember Martin Lewis commenting on free repair or replacement after the warranty period has ended.

Lenovo are offering a 'billable repair' which will probably cost more than a new laptop.

Can members who know more than me post a link for the correct ATF  (and amount required) for a 2007 2.8T.

The job itself does not look that difficult.

Mrs Opti says drop it at WBAC and run. :)

How is the search for a new car going?

You made us all jealous by posting about  potential new motors in the form of a Honda and Mondeo. ::)

However, now the trail seems to have gone cold. The car jungle drums have ceased and all is quiet.

Are you still looking?

Can this 'kid' really only be 16 years old?

His girlfriend is 21 and he looks about 35.

Surely somebody is taking the piss here. >:D

Time for TB to rid  the forum of those wanky santa thingies. :)

General Car Chat / Petrol consumption.
« on: 22 December 2023, 15:58:12 »
TB mentioned in a recent post that he needed a 'planet killing soot chucker' because he couldn't make a reasonably powerful petrol car achieve double figures. >:D

Well, I don't drive like Tunnie or  the scouse whippet owner, so I reckon these figures are pretty reasonable, with 40 MPG possible on a long run.

I can remember an elderly aunt boasting that her Morris Minor would do 'almost' 40 MPG if she didn't see the dark side of 35 MPH. >:D

First Trump banned then Vivek Ramaswamy pulls out.

US politics is even more of a basket case than that in the UK. :-X

He has already forgiven me as he starts his time in mouse heaven. :y

I've put the traps back to see if he has any mates still lurking about. :D

Had the same problem last year.

Why do the manufacturers not make 'rat poison' more lethal. So lethal in fact that it drops the little bastard before the poison has even reached it's tiny belly.

This latest mouse( I think there is just one) has consumed roughly 3 times it's body weight in poison yet it is still coming back for more. :-\

Commercial rat poison is piss weak. :-\
