Omega General Help / Re: Oil cooler plate leak
« on: 13 January 2018, 11:03:47 »
Well I changed coolant 3 years ago...it was blue coolant in it before. I'll change oil cooler for the sake of it while it's all apart, just need to find all bits and pieces now.
Thanks

Those were my thoughts exactly, thanks :y
Is this sealant the right one for oil cooler plate seal?

Omega General Help / Oil cooler plate leak
« on: 12 January 2018, 21:41:14 »
Hi guys, last year I found a cause of coolant leak and decided to sort it out at the same time as cambelt which is planned for this summer.
The question is: Is it adviceable to replace entire oil cooler while I'm there or just reseal an old cooler plate?
Oil cooler isn't mixing oil and coolant  for now.
If anyone has any parts laying around  I could use here, let me know.
Thanks in advance, Stan

Omega General Help / Re: Engine temperature gauge at over 100C

I believe it's lower one, with three pins. As far as I remember on my previous 2.0 16v, fans kicked in at around 96C as stage one as you say and never reached over 100C

Could it be thermo switch fault? Disconnect thermoswitch and short the wire therminals to see which fan should be activated when temp reaches 96 deg and speed of it.
Thermoswitch is cheap as chips and easy to replace for a start

Not worth it - my opinion only. I had one before, sold it after HG failed. It never ran again after next owner tried to fix it. Why not buying good X25XE engine? MPG is the same, only thing that is different is as you said maintenance work. But when you have engine out you can replace alternator and starter motor which are in akward places.
Just found one close enough...rottten as hell, no MOT but running engine and a lot of parts...and LPG

Omega General Help / Re: Is it urgent?

The result....
After checking on cambelt and timing - everything is still spot on and looking ok.
Then I went to search for a coolant leak and found oil cooler plate leaking.
Assembled it all together without touching anything than aux belt which was close to failure. Sometime next year omega will need cambelt replacement due to mileage and I'll do it all together while I'm there.

Has anyone tried ebay oil cooler that cost around 150£?
Those are the cheapest I could find. Regards, Stan

Just bought new aux belt, water pump and thermostat while I'm there. Going to open cambelt cover anyway to see what does the cambelt look like.
Well it's a good thing I noticed it before it snapped...like it did two and a half years before :-\

Well, I'm going to buy new aux belt today, and while I'm at it new tensioner roller and water pump too - I added some UV collouring into coolant to find a leak and the only place I could find it was under water pump. The V-valey is dry, hbv is dry...
And while I'm there I'm going to take off cambelt cover...I'm afraid that cambelt looks the same as aux belt

Anyone with the link to buy an entire set?
Aux belt + tensioner + water pump and cambelt + tensioners?
Problem free set that can last 60.000km ...unlike mine
