ABS sensor
« on: 29 September 2014, 10:27:05 »

Right, apart from my oil burning thread, ive decided to try and get it through its mot, but the ABS isnt playing ball and need a new Offside front sensor. Does anyone have a part number? Does anyone know if its easy to do? I need this doing desperately to make the car at least safe for when the baby comes, providing it passes of course  ::) MOT expires on All Hallows Eve  :)

Re your smoke thread, the car will prob fail on emissions if smoking!
Rather than spending on the abs sensor, go to your local mot garage and ask them to put it on the gas tester....
If it fails then you either need to rebuild it or sell it.
Don't throw more cash at it if its gonna fail in a few months.
Abs sensor is in the hub and usually not a bad job, however I've done a few over the years that have been stuck in, in which case you may have fun getting it out.
if all goes well a half hour job.
good luck  :y

Last years mot threw an advisory for blue smoke but emissions were spot on.

If i fix the abs and it still fails, then ill be thinking about selling/breaking to get my money back. If it passes then i will think about spending the cash on it.

I once wanted to test my exhaust emissions as not part of an mot. £5 at my local mot place so i'd definitely recommend doing that

Sensors can sometimes be an absolute pig to remove, as the screw corrodes. That bit aside, its easy enough.
