Omega General Help / Re: heater blower fan
« on: 07 March 2018, 12:54:17 »
Had similar problem, noise appeared and got louder over time. After 1,5-2 weeks noise stopped and so did the blower fan.
Replaced the blower motor and old rotor was very hard to move. It did move a bit when I gave it 12 V from battery, but I think no lubricant could have cured that.

If you need to get it working for a while, you could try to push it through fresh air filter housing with long metal stick (TIG welding rod for example) just to help it get moving. Don't spray anything at it when it's blowing, your interior could get some coating also  ::)

Omega General Help / Re: Flushing Heater Matrix
« on: 07 March 2018, 08:19:51 »
With some cutting and gluing, it is two hours job to replace heater matrix (first time). If I needed to do it again, it would be one hour job.
I think there is guide how to do it easy way.

Bear in mind that the pedals are in the way on our cars  :y

Oops, then there might be something more to disassemble than glove box  :-X

Anyways, there's the guide for wrong side drivers   ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Door seals
« on: 07 March 2018, 06:07:00 »
Where did you get the seals and at what price?
I'd also like to replace door seals, been looking a bit and could not find any complete sets. Only single seals and prices are astronomical..

Omega General Help / Re: Snow performance
« on: 01 March 2018, 13:22:56 »
There is a big difference with non-studded winter tyre and "summer" tyre with M+S mark.

It might feel expensive to have two sets of tyres (summer+winter), but if you want to use your car also at winter conditions (and also avoid collisions) they are worth it and will last several years if used only at winter.
Of course if the winter lasts only few days per year, it is easier just to go for a pub and survive through it  ;D

Personally, if the snow is heavy when I wake up, it will be a case of walking through the fields to the pub with the old willies on for lunch and a pint :y

C'mon.. Nobody? ;D ;D

And Mandula - you live in the country that gave us Ari Vatanen, Tommi Makinen et al; I assume you all pop out of the womb with an innate ability to drive like madmen in the snow ;)

Just takes some practice  :y

If you find yourself sliding/pushing (probably because cornering too fast) you have at least two choices (with manual car, because whats fun with automatic?):
- boring one is just press clutch pedal down and notice how sliding/pushing stops/rear wheels get some grip and you can steer back on track
- funnier one is to make counter-steering opposite way you are sliding/pushing and at the same time (best with LSD) give some revs to adjust the slide the way you want. It's same with AWD, you just need some courage and practice to trust that car really does change direction as you want when you give some revs and steering to it 8)

I don't know is it allowed for you to drive with steel-studded tyres (currently under my car), because those are superior at winter, but second best choice is to use proper non-studded tyres at winter (also can be driven at summer but will worn out earlier if you do).

Absolutely no problem, but LSD and good winter tires are recommended. Hate to drive FWD's at winter, yes it is easy but handling is not so good than with Omega.

Below shown normal winter conditions, but goes easily even at 20 cm of snow (just don't stop).
Of course you need to know the limits with speed and generally know how to drive at winter, but even if rear looses it's traction it is easy just steer it back on track.
I don't have TC installed on my car, and I don't miss it (tried one with TC, no good at all).

Omega General Help / Re: what do you do
« on: 12 February 2018, 06:43:15 »
Always filled filter and oiled the O-ring.
Just to be sure there is oil in the system at first start after change. Takes like 10 seconds, and can be filled while oil is draining from the engine, so why not.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear suspension problems
« on: 08 February 2018, 06:56:09 »
Does both springs have the same part number?
I cant think what else could cause that than different spring constants on springs, if nothing else have been changed than springs and before it was OK.

You could also test to change springs to opposite sides, does it change the side of lower corner or does it remain the same?
If it changes, then its the springs. If it doesn't, then there is something weird at chassis. Well I don't know for sure, but just for thought  ::)

Have you changed the oil for diff already?

GM diff oil + GM's LS additive from dealer seems to be best and not even expensive.
I think it is common that diff oils never been changed and then they are starting to make noise or fail. Change oil and LS additive first, because it is cheapest and probably fixes the problem.

After (or before) that check for play at rear bearings.

I have changed both rear bearings:
- right side had play but no noise from it (~240 tkm)
- left side, 3 years after right side replacement, had no play but very bad noise just as yours (~320 tkm). Felt and sounded like someone was hammer drilling at trunk, highest sound was at 80 km/h speed.

Omega General Help / Re: headlight level sensor

Already inspected wirings that come to sensors?

I had very small crack at rear sensor wiring insulation and over time water made it tricks and that warning message lighted up.

Thanks, I'll check that switch! And thanks for links and help so far!

Like the pink connector and counterconnector that goes to it, I think: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Factory-Fittted-Xenon-Repair-Ballast-kit-D2-for-Mercedes-Benz-All-Models-Class-/170972507212

I haven't got any head light warnings when the problematic xenon have not light up. Anyway it is an easy and cheap thest IF I just could find right connectors so I don't need to destroy my original wirings/connectors..

Hi,

So I need to find the male and female connectors that connects car harness to HID ballast (see pic, empty socket at ballast).
Anybody knows the right type or direct link where to buy those?

I'm about to install relays between my ballast and car battery to get rid of annoying fault that causes my passenger side xenon to randomly switch ON when starting the car.
And when it does switch ON, it is not as bright as drivers side.

I've already replaced ballasts and bulbs (twice) and also changed them from side to side, did not solve the problem.
Also first re-soldered the automatic driving light (don't remember the correct term..) relay and then also replaced it with new one, did not solve the problem.
Checked all the connectors and cleaned them, no joy.
So it must be the harness that causes some resistant, I think it is related to humidity.

Well anyways, I don't want to rip all the harness apart, so it is easier to install relays and operate them with original HID supply voltage.
Don't want to destroy original connectors nor harness either, so that's why I need to find some bulk connector that will fit.
