Unusual car from Roger Budden
« on: 20 June 2009, 19:07:33 »

As some of you may know Roger Budden specialises in Omega's albeit it high priced one's. And more recently Chrysler 300c's. So I was suprised when I saw this on his site...

In good condition, unusual to see one of them not rusted away. Actually, just unusual to see one now precisely because they have all rusted away!

When I was in Spain a couple of weeks back, I was surprised by the number of old Fords in immaculate condition - Sierras, Escort Mk3, even a stunningly tidy Fiesta Mk1 :o

I'll give him 800 quid in his hand to see that ejected into a quarry-pit from one of those compressed-air ram things!

Try and outsell the Cavalier Mk II will ya??? Grrr!!! Try and do an upmarked version to compete with the Carlton!?? NEVERRR!!  8-)

so has Mr Budden identified the Omega replacment? Sierra! Oh yeah, we've done the omega replacement  before havent we. terribly sorry old boy, I am a little tired.

Still prefer the vw Phaeton to the 300c.  Saw one as a taxi the other day doing the airport run. Must be getting cheaper. :-)

Well, given the choice between that and a modern faceless, FWD Diesel eurobox I might be tempted. Would need an engine transplant first though.

Trouble is, crap vag forum, crap vag diagnostic system, and its had 2 new cats, do they have precat issues as well?

Kev, whats the 300c lump?

I was looking at the Phaetons as a Omega replacement in a couple of years, seam well priced, maybe i know why now!

Shame, 60k car new i think they look nice as well.

Think 300c have same engines as Merc E Class (except the Hemi V8)

Oh i really like the vw. Big and comfy, loads of toys.

Dont know enough about them though. Engine bay looks a total nightmare to work on. Base engine is a
V6 and suspect it weights more than a mig so consumption aint going to be great. I am thinking avoid the w12, imagine serviceing that. 12 plugs all hidden away, cam belt dvd anyone?
Oh, and even though it has built in tw@ nav, in the auto trader link, that looks like a tomtom charger in the centre console...?

Back in the day, I really wanted a 2000E Sierra Saphire, with its leather and so on, it was up on a ghia but still smoked like mad once it hit 80,000 miles. Found On Road Dead, or Fix Or Repair Daily may be more apt.  :D

The one shown appears mint. But what to do with it? To good to scrap but wouldnt give £50 for it personally.

my W8 Passat is a nightmare, you need to take the engine out for everything, I understand the W12 owners are having the same issue. Its seems to be best avoided, although mt 275BHP passat estate 4 motion is fun until it next breaks.

W8? Why would they do such a thing? New Passat nice too. But the golf we had put me off, phaeton keeps pulling me back though, just seems... More?....more agro probably. :-)
