S reg 2.5 CDX Saloon Auto
« on: 06 November 2009, 12:16:46 »

I need to sell my 2.5 CDX,

Speedo showing 113k but it stopped working in april this year, i reckon ive probably done another 3k since then.

I have past mot's to prove mileage.

Bad Points

Some rust coming thru on NSR 1/4 and Doors.

Some dinks and scratches here and there

I had the usual abs prob in april, had ecu recond abs light has gone out but steering is heavier than it should be, and speedo dosent work

OSF door stay gone
Remote control N/W and seperate key for ignition as i broke one of the keys in the barell and had to break it out.

GOOD POINTS

Car is excellent, i have owned it since 2003ll jan 10 and mot till aug 10.

Any intersest please make reasonable offers, I will be happy to e mail pictures to interested parties

thanks

Retail: £1,075
Private Good: £755
Private Average: £495
Private Poor: £245
Part Exchange: £585
Trade: £508

Any pics?

Auto/Manual?

Leather?

Based on what I've read so far with all the faults, it's £200 if I can legally drive it away.

PS

Although I have access to trade plates, "legally" to me means taxed & tested.
If no tax/test (or either is short), then it's pure scrap value minus my exes to come & pick it up.

car is taxed and tested, but will have to decline your offer, minumum i will take is trade price, probs listed are unfortunante but i feel they are consistent with age of the car. the car is generally in excellent condition

The OP wants £500 - and KW thinks its worth £200.

I'b probably say, to someone who wanted some use from the car,  a fair price would be midway between the two - maybe £300.

Bear in mind - for £650, I purchased this, with 102k on the clock... and not a mark on it...  Omega's are unfortunately not worth the money, anymore...

But as often said.  Just posting a basic desciption does and will never help the sale of a car.

Imagine an autotrader add,

S reg 2.5 CDX Saloon Auto 103K + Speedo not working, Readonable offers.  Only scrap merchants would turn up.

A car on here needs

Age/plate   1999  S/T/V
Model / spec ....   CDX/Elite etc
Colour (Code even better)
Type saloon/estate
Engine/fuel   Petrol/Diesel/LPG   4 pot/V6  2.2/2.5/2.6 etc
T&T  If any
Interior  Vel/leather
Extra's   Sunroof/wood trim/sat nav/aftermarket stero  (Bodykit)
Wheels    Especially if non standard.

AND PICTURES

Inside and out
Pics of rust/marks/scratches/
Pic of speedo varifies the mileage
Enigine bay

Just point out the good (and the bad)

The more info you give on here I believe the quicker the sale will be.  Pictures will allways help the decription, some cars can have the cars varifies by other members as they have seen them locally, been to meets or just met with other members to buy parts.

Have you read the advert DL?

The speedo doesn't work, the PAS is heavy, the NSR doors and quarter panels have rust blowing through, and 2 seperate keys are required.

As for what MIG's are worth, I sold our practically immaculate 2.5 CDX Estate (2000 registered) for £1000 back in July....and that was after fitting 4 new boots, wishbones, droplinks, struts, windscreen, air-con regas, and a few other bits.

As James says, the MIG isn't rare enough to be worth anything at this moment in time.

John,

My belief is you pay what YOU think its worth TO YOU immaterial of what others MAY say or value it at...

I recently paid £4k for a YELLOW  :D Volvo T5R Estate with 70k miles and FSH.....most hate the colour and cant believe what ive paid....I don't car and love the car to bits...

I am also in the market for a MINT MV6 or an Elite and WILL pay over the odds for the right one  :)

So enjoy your motor mate and think of the poor sod who lost thousands when they took it away from the showroom  ;D

points taken, i was trying to be honest, with the description, that is why i highlighted the bad points which obviously makes the car sound worse than it is.

im sure most other eleven year old cars would also have some rust and issue with keys.

As also mentioned in the ad i will be happy to email pictures to interested parties, as iam struggling with photo bucket.

regards

For me personally John (especially considering what we bought and sold a few months later), you paid well over the odds.

Howeevr, it is as RaC says....you paid what YOU considered it to be worth to YOU.
If you are happy with that purchase, then it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks at that point IMO.

Just to put things into perspective I paid £350 for my 1996 2.5 cdx estate and that is taxed and tested until April but for £350 I know it will have problems that won't get any better with age.It was all I could afford at the time and I will have to do the usual thing of wishbones and steering idlers.Unfortunately as several people have said previously they aren't worth what they used to be so the only real gainers from this are people like me needing big transport for little outlay.

The way I look at it is like this: For 1 payment on a new BMW you can get a useable beater Omega. For two payments you can get a really decent car. For 3 payments, you can get something with full leather, cruise, sat nav, climate, sunroof in mint condition with all the toys that the beamer has.
