On a serious note lads...

Just visited the safety store. Got full face mask and big Irwin clamps.

When my cutting discs arrive and I actually start cutting.... this snagging thing causing kick back.... is there a technique to prevent this?

Don't twist it and don't force it :y

Be aware that as you remove strength from the panel, the slice may close up behind the disc, causing it to stick...

Please don't take this the wrong way and i know everyone has been offering help and advise but by now it sounds like your getting a bit of a wobble which is understanable have looked at all the things that can go wrong.

I'd suggest that for your first time get someone with you who has a knowledge of using a grinder and can give you a few pointers. like i said if you were a bit closer you'd be more than welcome to pop over to the workshop for a few hours

Thanks Andy,

Yeah it is pretty scary.

I think I'm happy having a go to be honest. Just not going to rush and take it slow and wear all my PPE.

I would advise to use the attaching handle till you get use to the grinder , less chance of it twisting  :y A lot of jobs on cars are tight access so the handle has to come off  :y

It might be suggested that if you have to remove the handle then you're using the wrong tool :-X
