One odd thing, if taxing at the Post Office, you still need to produce an MoT certificate should the car require one... yet online, it already knows :-\ a compatibility issue with the Post Office system perhaps...

I didn't when I taxed mine (right after I bought it), they didn't want anything apart from the V5
Same here...

Got the Bullet home far too quickly from Watford. It's sat out there now with smoke pouring from everywhere, just looking spent.

I'll give it some loving tomorrow by way of apology  :-[

Wopped another years ticket on it. ...then found it you really can tax it on line immediately after its passed its mot. Instant. Luckily. :-X
Did mine last night, including setting up nthe direct debit, it took less than five minutes :y

The DVLA can be the biggest bunch of tissue wasters ever, but this new system does have its positive aspects... like taxing your car on a Sunday afternoon...

What suprised me was how instant the updated mot info was. I was expecting a few hours until the info went live, and then buggering about typing the code in only to be refused. But no. The phone rang, it's passed sir. Yippee, thankyou. Hung up and imediately logged on to purchase tax. Instantly accepted the application, let me pay all 5 steps complete. Confirmation email arrived imediately with amounts and due dates listed. Impressive, imo. :y

Having just coffed £400 at the dentist, paying by instalments was very welcome. I guess enabled by doing away with the yearly disc.

It's nerve wracking, that's for sure! Although I spotted a Vauxhall Mokka (I think it was) that actually ended up taller when you take the aerial into account because the aerial on that is bolt upright..

Might have to look for a stubby aerial for mine though or I can't reverse into spaces in the carpark at work  :-[

Replaced the rear subframe bushes, a nice straightforward job that took 70minutes including getting the tools out. Both bushes were split, but not separated.  Fitted new pins and springs to the rear calipers to eliminate the nasty scraping noise.

Then I moved to the front to deal with the wishbone rear bushes. First I had to modify the half of the  press tool I made the last time I did this, and improvise the other half with a pair of old bearing races. Changing the bushes was simple, as was refitting the O\S wishbone. Then I had a visit from Mr Cockup, and struggled for an hour to get the rear bolt in the the N\S. That was because I'd mixed it with the front one and had to do the whole swearing at it again.

A quick roadtest showed a massive improvement ( the wishbone bushes were utterly knackered) but I now have the ABS warning light on. Tomorrow's job will be to diagnose which sensor I've damaged.

Now it's time for fireworks followed by beer and a curry.

Blown a cornering lamp on the Merc...

Fortunately they actually designed enough space to change them through the back of the light units without either removing the bumper or the light unit. The other plus is they're standard H7s so Helfrods might actually stand a chance of stocking them...

Job for tomorrow anyways ::)
