General Discussion Area / Another pensions injustice
« on: 20 June 2011, 12:12:08 »
Good to see that parliament is debating the proposed changes to womens pension age by raising them to equal men. I hope some form of common sense prevails, e.g. stgaed over a longer time.

Yes there has to be change but everything seems to be precipitous. Apparently it will save £10 billion so more money for madcap spending

Of course only about 330,000 people are "affected" and they are only women to boot so its Ok to cheat them at a late stage out of what they expected for all of their lifetime of work.

Only principally affects women aged 55 and 56. :(

Gasp.

I await June 28th. Next crunch date for the bankrupt Greeks. Could just lead to them leaving the euro.

The boy did well.

A Mclaren  1 2 would have been even better.  :y

I LOVE damp races. The real drivers shine out. There were some impressive drives too.

Makes you wonder how many (dead) people are still being claimed for in Britain.

Greece (now with the worst credit rating of any country in the world) had loads of dead people over the age of 100 where pensions were still being paid out and used.

I can't even think about Ikea without that vein in my forehead starting to throb. >:(

Still, I can normally get away with sitting in the canteen eating meatballs and hot dogs while mrs. KW does the "browsing".

We overdid it a little once. 3 desks, 4 bookcases and a couple of tables. Managed to load it all into the Laguna that I had at the time, though. I remember being surprised that the ground clearance hadn't suffered too much. I found out why when I went to pull away. The  car was supported mostly by the pikey bar, which had dropped until it rested on the kerb. As I pulled away there was a graunching noise and I lost another 6 inches of ground clearance. :-[

Fantastic, that must have been in your younger days. ;D ;D

I voted yes. Even with an LPG bomb.

Ive had a mobility scooter, an old person walker, two full size suitcases, two carry on suitcases and a gallon of water plus three adults in ours

I bet one or both of your rear springs have broken as that stuff must have weighed a couple of tons. Ain't nowt heavier than an IKEA flat pack  ;D ;D

Hmm, I am painting our house at the moment. Been up on the roof this morning cutting in the gable ends and painting the material between tiles and along the ridge. Not my favourite activity.

Used 40kg of paint so far.

General Discussion Area / HPi checks.
« on: 11 June 2011, 10:09:57 »
Just a thought but why isn't HPi part of a government run site that is free to use by us innocent punters?

having been the victim of car theft on several occasions and on one the car was ticketed by a traffic warden in some distant city where it had been abandoned. A few days later it was towed away following complaints from locals. ONLY then did anyone make the stolen car connection.

Here is an idea Mr Cameroon for your Big Society. Put the stolen car database in the public domain. Let Joe Public when he sees a car seemingly abandoned in the street check on the police run records and advise them where it is.

As for cost of such a scheme, well it could be funded by money recovered from car thieves - impounded property etc. I would ban them from driving/owning a car for a period of time. If that caused hardship, they could work in my "government run workhouse" smashing big rocks into small ones to make East Coast defences etc.

Just todays great idea..............

Fantastic, I wish we had thought of this prank at school. We just did stuff like an alarm clock going off in the rafters during final assembly and it lowering a giant pair of red bloomers behind the head teacher!
