Any accident is traumatic, congratulations on your lucky escape, Al.

We discussed the strange layout of the Omega front wishbone rubbers in a thread earlier this year. Obviously if the bushes only allowed rotation about the bolts the suspension would not move at all. If owners restrict movement in the rubbers to improve handling they increase flexing loads on the wishbones. Whether they are strong enough to take these loads owners must decide. The calculations are beyond me, so I trust Adam Opel engineers and the test of time, and leave mine alone.

I thought you were on your hols in the South of France, Al, Adversane sounds quite exotic. Googling it I find it is a suburb of Horsham, Sussex. At least you are near home.

Omega General Help / Re: HG change on a 2.2

Sure it's not the coil pack itself?
No! Good thinking M. Guffer. I will check that first. Son Ben will be here soon with his 2.2, and I will swop them.

2.2 has a coil pack,,,,so no dis pack or leads.....on a previous 2.2 i had,,that started but would not tick over and when reved to keep it going it sounded just like a machine gun firing....turned out to be the 1st lambda sensor was faulty..changed that and all was well..
Thank you flyer. That had not occurred to me. Will investigate.

Removed the cage again and plugged the cables direct into the head unit. Punched in the code and everything works, tape, radio and CDs!
Don't know why head unit would not go into the cage; there seems to be no room for self alignment of the socket to the HU plug; possibly the cable was in the way; little more work to be done.

Thanks for advice gentlemen. Your replies suggest that the 2006 should fit, and work OK, good news. It does not jam as it goes back, but seems to hit something suddenly, presumably the socket. I suppose I could take it apart again and check that the head unit plug fits the car socket; it looks like it should.

that's running rich/misfiring.

Is yours leads or over the plug DIS pack?  If the former double check the numbering.
DIS pack. It was running like this before I changed the head gasket. I blamed it on the faulty MAF sensor, probably incorrectly. When I put the plugs in after the HG change they were fine. If the MAF is faulty it should run OK with it unplugged; it does not.
I have a problem. Cam sensor? Crank sensor? Somethng else?

All reassembled. Fitted cheap MAF sensor to replace faulty MAF, filled with coolant, replaced battery. Cranked 10 seconds with coil pack lead not connected. Connected coil pack lead. Engine started at idle, but wanted to stall; if caught it would rev cleanly, but hard to keep running. Unplugged MAF; no change. Fitted original dodgy MAF; no change. Fitted known good MAF; no change, engine would not catch and rev any more.
Checked codes: no codes stored on cheapo reader. Removed all plugs; all sooty, see pic. Any suggestions?

I am attempting to replace a CDR2005 head unit in a 2002 CD with a CCR2006 from a 2000 CDX. I have switched the cages, the plugs look the same, but it won't go in. It goes in most of the way, I think the plug and socket are not engaging. Any suggestions?

Omega General Help / Re: Glovebox
« on: 08 September 2015, 17:34:10 »
Sounds like the old bonnet won't open situation where I have left a spanner or something under the bonnet so it has jammed. Solution there is have SWMBO sit on the centre of bonnet above the latch, releasing the pressure on the latch, then the bonnet pull can release the latch. Try pushing the glovebox even more firmly shut, then work the release and it may open.

Thank you all for advice. Sub frame off job, eh? I know some FWD drive cars with transverse engines allow easy clutch changing, apparently not the Signum. I understand that the lady has got a quote of £700 from another garage and accepted it.

That sounds a lot of money to keep a Signum on the road. How old is the car?

Which petrol engine does it use?
Car is a 2005 model, engine size unknown. Owner has just put on new tyres so claims she cannot afford to scrap it. The price includes a new flywheel (DMF?), clutch slave cylinder and thrust bearing. I think this is good many after bad, but it's her choice.

Does anyone have a picture of the underside of the ECU ?? or one of the electrical connections ?? feeling with fingers there "might" just be a loose wire or something under there that I can't see... although if there is I have no idea how to get it plugged back in !!
here's the plug.
