Nope, none of those wires are the remote, and if the model number is CQ-C8300 then I`m afraid that it does not have steering control capability -

Not sure what interface you have with a single bullet wire on though - sounds like a Kenwood version - Panasonic would need more than a single wire.

I have a manual for the CQ-C8400/CQ-C8300 if you want me to email it over, if so, send me an email to dave@dndservices.co.uk and I can reply with it.

 

Sorted dave ,turns out the brown wire i mentioned,actually had a black trace in it,and that was the wire i was after,but thanks anyway for your advice mate ,just got to sort the amp alternator whine noise out now

Thanks dave,there is no jack socket,but there is five other wires at the back of the stereo which i dont know what they are for.blue/white-remote,orange-illumination,blue-unknown,brown-unknown,and brown/white-unknown,so surely one of those should be the wire im after .the patch lead ive bought just has a bullet connector on the end. :-/

Got a problem on my vec b 2.2 with the alternator,as its putting no charge in the battery.Bought a brand new battery yesterday and stuck it on,and lastnight i was driving along,and all dash lights started to gradually dim,then abs and tc light came on,after that stereo went off,then spanner light came on,but wouldent the battery light come on if was the alternator,or does anyone know what else it could be. :-/

although I used a bit of other wire in between.

Is there any way to check the heated pads with a meter without having to strip the seat covers off ?

I imagine a meter would show it...

Wonder if you could disconnect the plug on the leg extension,and put a 12v tester on each one of the plugs,at least then you can work out which part has a fault,surely its just live and earth. :-/

Assuming yours is not leather judging by your avatar,then it shouldent be too bad for you to remove your seat cover,and sort the problem.Look in the maintainence section for the how to guide.

It's a good job I did not spend too much on it the.

For the front door speakers I was thinking of VIBE BlackAir 6 (6.5 inch)
and for the rear VIBE BlackAir 5 (5.25 inch).

What are thoughts on those? I think they will fit, but I will be going to Halfords tomorrow to make sure they fit.

Just as long as you dont plan on asking advice from them.

Take it your seat was leather andy,and was it difficult to remove the cover. :-/

Yes, mines leather. The cover isn't too difficult to remove enough to access the heating element. At the back of the base is a wire rod sewn into the cover and tensioned to the frame (I think - it was years ago now that I stripped mine) via 'hog rings'. I found it was easiest the twist the two ends from each other to open it up rather than just splay them cos it makes it easy to close than back up again. The sides & front of the seat cover has a card strip sewn to it and this is held into a fabicated 'groove' welded to the seat. If you push down on the seat base (in the same direction as sitting on it) you get enough slack to allow the card to come out of the groove.
It's easier to than explain ..... 


I suppose I should remove my seat at some time to patch up where I damaged the inboard side of my driver's seat when I had an argument debate with the £1 coin stuck in the seat runner last year.

I fixed my heated seat on both my Senator & this Omega. the fault on both was the same, a small burnt out section of the heater elemet on the base. I cut out about an inch or so & re-soldered. I can't say for the Senator ( I no longer own it  ) but the Omega's is still working 4 or 5 years later. Stripping the seat enough to get to the heating element, is quite straight forward but be aware that it's bloody heavy!   

Take it your seat was leather andy,and was it difficult to remove the cover. :-/

leather seats are notorious for not heating, its a strip down the seat and replace element job to get them working most of the time, and thats a hassle you dont really want is it?

invest in some thermal boxers

As my mig is still off the road at the moment,the battery has gone flat,so stuck it on charge the other day,and noticed as it was charging the powersounder gave an audiable signal every minute or so.Is this normal?,oh and powersounder batteries are new by the way,in the end i had to disconnect it to stop annoying neighbours.
