General Discussion Area / Calling all Shower Experts
« on: 17 December 2013, 07:56:09 »
Just had the en-suite re-kitted out.

Previous shower was gravity fed, scalding hot water.

Replace with a Salamander RSP50, all plumbed according to the Salamander spec.

Hot water now only luke warm, any ideas please?

General Discussion Area / Shower????
« on: 03 December 2013, 18:29:25 »
We have a gravity fed shower in the on-suite upstairs.

Is it worth fitting a pump to increase the pressure so that we can have a bigger shower head?

If so, can, can anyone recommend a suitable pump please?.

A couple in our cul-de-sac who have just retired, bought a motorhome which they have been parking on their drive.

There is a covenant on the properties that says you cannot park caravans, motorhomes, commercial vehicles, have aerials etc.

The next door neighbour (a real busybody and pain in the butt) complained about it, and shortly afterwards a solicitors letter arrived (from her solicitor) warning them about the covenant.

The covenant is only enforceable by the builder of the estate.

As it's a fully licensed vehicle, they have now moved it from their drive, and parked in front of her house on the road.

There's sod all she can do about it.

Can't wait to see the outcome ;D

General Car Chat / Insignia Service - Part II
« on: 28 October 2013, 11:06:00 »
Insignia went in for a major service last Wednesday, labour charge £93.60, collected from my door, and delivered back :y

I supplied all the parts, oil, filters etc...

Cheeky blighters carried out a first service on it, changed the oil and oil filter, all other parts were returned to me.

When I queried it, they said that the price quoted was for a first service, and that's what they carried out.

Fortunately, when I booked it in, I asked for a printout of the service, so that I could purchase all the required parts.

Went down today with my piece of paper, service manager was most apologetic, full service will be completed on Wednesday whilst I wait.

Full service should have been quoted at considerably more, as more labour required.

Result, apart from the inconvenience :y

General Discussion Area / IE Question
« on: 10 October 2013, 18:34:15 »
On our desktop, if Mrs AA logs on, and clicks IE, it opens up twice.

If I log on, and click on IE, it only opens up once.

Any ideas gratefully received :y

General Discussion Area / Someone I used to work for
« on: 04 October 2013, 18:42:26 »
Used to work for a guy back in the 70's, lovely guy, who couldn't do enough for his work force.

Then he made his first million, after that he became unbearable to work for.

Now worth £500,000,000 + and has been knighted.

Just heard that he deducts £10 per week administration fee from each of his employees, for processing their PAYE & NI.

That's where I went wrong, thank goodness!

General Car Chat / Insignia Service Question
« on: 04 October 2013, 06:24:36 »
Took delivery of it in Nov/2012.

Had a call from Lookers yesterday to remind me it was due for it's annual service, which according to their records would be a major service £298 including parts and lubricants :o

I could do with the book stamped as it's still under warranty.

Got the service book out to see exactly what they did prior to me taking delivery.

The book reads as follows:-

The work is marked with yes or no

Yes = was exchanged or replaced

No - no exchange necessary.

Yes - Battery (key)
Yes - Pollen filter
Yes - Air cleaner element
Yes - Ribbed Belt
Yes - Toothed belt
Yes - Fuel filter
Yes - Transmission fluid
Yes - Brake fluid
Yes - Tyre repair kit (car doesn't have one)
Yes - Brake pads front/rear
Yes - Spark plugs (it's a diesel)
Yes - Coolant

Which means to me all the major work has been carried out, but I bet it wasn't.

Just wondering what my approach should be to Lookers?

Any thoughts please?
