Hi Marks DTM

I have a Sony Head Unit as well - in the Cavalier I have a minidisc unit like you - it is the one that can record from the radio or cd changer - and in the Omega have been relagated to a CD player head unit as mini disc seems not to be an option these days - a great shame!

3 questions if I may:

1.   How did you get the interface to fit at the rear of the head unit?
2.   Where did you get the Connects2 device from?
3.   How much was the device?

does your Sony have OEM Display output or does this new connects 2 box do it for you?

I am selling my Kenwood double din crap... and getting an Alpine single din.

I suspect your sony HU is quite old and did not have OEM display out?

It is quite old (7-8years?), the connects 2 box connects between the cd changer (in the comms lead) and radio plus it plugs into the remote jack on the rear of the stereo. There is also an inline connection for the main ISO lead.

I paid 30 quid delivered off ebay second hand.

No, my Sony does not have OEM out , the box does all this for you...its a tight fit in the space available to! (would be much easier in a facelift)

I never bothered with the display, it's very limited anyway compared to the display on my head unit (hi-res dot matrix, it's a navi unit). However I consider the steering wheel controls a must-have, I barely touch the head unit controls except for doing more complex stuff like navigation or browsing by artist etc. I bought my interface from www.caraudiodirect.com

I have been surprisd about the display, it scrolls the track and album name, displays the RDS info etc....

.....its also in the field of view when scannning the speedo which suits me well.
