Shame it's a previous Cat D write-off, but then that's why it's only £30k and not £50+, I guess!

One of a few ways...
He works for his dad and it's a leased 'company' car.
He has a trust fund run by a complete oppstard.
His parents are absolutely minted and have no sense.
All that being equal, he didn't come across as being a spoilt little turd compared to some of the entitled snowflakes you see here...

Interesting one that. It seems to me that once cars pass a certain age, damage and rebuilds seem to affect their value less and less. Specifically thinking about some of the 1960's stuff that has been rebuilt from more or less scrap.
Quite when that happens I'm not sure. But depending on when the rebuild was done and by who, that 911 looks good value

Interesting one that. It seems to me that once cars pass a certain age, damage and rebuilds seem to affect their value less and less. Specifically thinking about some of the 1960's stuff that has been rebuilt from more or less scrap.
Quite when that happens I'm not sure. But depending on when the rebuild was done and by who, that 911 looks good value
Good points, actually - I was thinking that, as a Cat D, it is unlikely to ever appreciate in value as fast as other, pristine, brethren .. but you might be right - on a long enough timescale, it probably won't matter.
Plus there is the approach a friend took when he bought a "high mileage" (30k, IIRC!) Gallardo - "Well, it won't matter that I'm actually going to use it!" ;D Worked out well for him, I think it's worth more now than when he bought it..
So, who can lend me the £24k I'm short? Friends? No? Nobody? Well balls to the lot of you, then :P ;D

That's true - and actually, it had to go to VOSA so I'm probably wrong and it was probably a Cat C, not D. I could do an HPI check on it if I were really interested..
