Obviously, when of a certain age before Daisy Duke became the reason to watch, all my mates an I wanted the General Lee.  Then we simultaneously hit the age that Miss Duke mattered and discovered that yankee muscle cars are universally shite ;D

but they look & sound good  :y :y

Frank Cannon drove a Lincoln Continental. Could you be tempted? :D :D ;)

I can't find a 2 door car like Frank's but how about a 4 door 'sedan'?  ;D

Just don’t use it to dip Aluminium in, unless you want to dissolve the Aluminium.  ::)  ;D

When I worked at Hall's sweets I was after a big tub to soak something or other in caustic, we had a load of plastic tubs but I could only find an ally tub so used that.  ::) I filled the workshop with acrid fumes!  :-[

Have a look at this

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202306148508681

Then look at its MOT history
The 9 January 2023 Test still covers it ,despite the July fail , very odd
at least it's got 38 less mules on now than 3 July 2023  ;D
it's not just DeLoreans that do time travel  :P
We call them horses in the trade, Dave, not mules  ;D ;D

You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him......  ;D

My Touareg has one too although I don't think I've ever used it :-X

The Range Rover has one, I've never used it.

is that just out of stubbornness ....  :-\

you could both just leave the heater off & wear an overcoat & bobhat!  ;D

Perusing Autotrader, can't find anything that fits.

Large saloon
RWD
Auto
200+ BHP
£10kish for sub 10yr 100k miles example
40+ mpg capable day to day

I think my choices are:
BMW 7 Series - too many reliability issues, and struggle to fit in budget for a 100k mile example
Merc S class - a remotely acceptable one is 30+ years old.
Lexus (anything) - too narrow/cramped
Kia Stinger - could prove expensive as pattern parts and info hard to get
Infiniti - couldn't live with interior

Any other pearls of wisdom?

and it's a Datsun  ::)

Omega General Help / Re: crank shaft sensor query.
« on: 04 December 2023, 17:29:04 »
Misinformed or not, the spin on filters don't snap in half when they're over tightened and can be removed far more easily than the caps. And if you're changing the oil every couple of months, why not simplify the process :D
Oh I've had to fight some spin ones in the past, not on Omegas though, where some mongrel thinks that hand tight is about 30,000Nm.

On a V6 Omega, I'll go for the cartridge type every single time. Les messy and easier to replace (if you're not following a ham fisted retard).

And I think it makes the crank sensor last longer. I never had a crank sensor failure on one that had the cartridge filter, only on spin ons.  And I've changed a shit load of crank sesnors ;D

My Omega went through 2 crank sensors in the many years I had it & mine had a cartridge filter.
I agree with you Jamie though that the filter is easy enough to replace .... I never had a problem with mine.  :y

Grey Funnel Liners used shore supplies when parked up alongside at home. The cables for each phase were around 2" dia .... no idea now of the cross section size .... 440V 50Hz but depending on ship size, there might have been 2 or 3 or 4 lots of supplies.
I've 'paralleled' up to shore supply quite a few times  :y
