I saw an R63 for sale not that long ago. What a mental vehicle  ;D

That said, the 320 CDI didn't ought to be too bad reliability wise. Were they all airmatic or can you get them on proper springs too?

I would imagine that Airmatic was one of a very long list of options .... certainly was on my R Class & ML

......
The symptoms of the illness that tried to kill me in 2022 have returned. Fever, zero appetite and an annoying cough needed checking out so I’ve been through all of the tests again. Zero appetite has sent my INR blood reading through the roof so at the moment it’s a balancing act for the hospital to control my INR reading whilst maintaining a level of antibiotics to control the infection.
I feared it was the end of me but I’m clawing my way back slowly. My broken foot has paled in to insignificance and to be honest it doesn’t even hurt now.
I’m beginning to think that somebody up there likes to kick me to within an inch of my life, allow me to partially recover and then kick me again. I did go through a moment when I thought I’d had enough, I’m tired of fighting so just end it, but I’m hopefully pulling back a bit now.  :y

Only just seen this Allan .... Hope they get you mended soon  :y :y :y

Doesn't the front single fan come always on when the air con is on? The two rear fans have a low & high speed

Just ordered a puller from Amazon prime. If it's as useless as the one Andy Beanz used they won't quibble about a refund.

Should be fine. :y

I tried all of the above when trying to remove the driver's side wipe arm of my R Class, &  I tried to rock the lower part with a small adjustable spanner to release it off the taper. A cheapo wiper arm puller failed miserably ....&  I ended up using a ball joint puller to remove it!

Again on something with a transfer box its not such an issue.

pretty much what MB said to me when I questioned Costco only wanting to sell me 4 on my R Class  :y
Ford recommended swapping all four at once on the 4x4 Sierra and Granada. They had a chain driven transfer case similar to the Merc set up ;)
When I emailed MB, their was reply was that it was OK to replace just 2 as long as there wasn't too much difference in tread depth .... make of that what you want. At the time I wasn't prepared to spend that much on 4 tyres  ;)

The real reason they recommend putting the new ones on the back for FWD is because the rears wear pretty slowly and can be a fair old age, this means you keep the tyre age down.

but the general 'advise' from the tyre companies & subsequently Costco, is new to the rear irrespective of FWD or RWD. Costco will only sell you 4 new tyres if 4 wheel drive (not sure what they'd say if it was only slip & grip/part time 4x4  :-\)

Is it repairable?

This is a different question to being written off or beyond repair.

Insurance will write it off, ass the work on retail for all parts, also lots of Omega is NLS, you have to fight to keep write offs, that's why you never let them take the car to a "repairer" always have it recovered to your home address ..

Oh yes, how true that is!

I regret to this day that my green 2.5 Omega went into a "repairer", only for the insurance company to  just say "beyond economical repair" when it just had the offside rear light  section pushed in.   :'( :'( :'(
You're still entitled to having the car back should you choose.

It's always YOUR car until the insurance pay out

....

I will try the battery disconnection first, as I wouldnt know where to plug in a dongle ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

it's in the fuse box under the steering column

Failing that I will just see my Vx dealer to get them to rectify.

 ...
You'll pay handsomely at a main dealer ....

if you go to Costco you won't get a choice ... they will put them on the rear (assuming same size front & back)
