Brakes
« on: 25 May 2018, 14:45:50 »

The front brake pads and callipers are now sorted  :y
Back wheels coming off in morning (weather permitting) to do anything needed then i'm going to push through some new fluid.

Question is .............. what order do I bleed ?
Also, engine off or running ?

NSR, OSR, NSF, OSF.

And keep the fluid level high or you'll have to do the clutch as well ::)

It doesn't really make any difference when the vehicle has a 4 channel ABS system, any order will work

Agreed. But IIRC Mr Haynes suggests 2 different orders to bleed depending on age of vehicle ie. 3 or 4 channel ABS.

As I understand it, you work your way back to the master from the furthest point ;)

it's on everything. Twice around the car is normally enough to get a decent pedal after fitting a new master cylinder or most of the brake pipes.

IIRC, all mini and facelift omegas have 4 channel ABS.
The pfl cars rear sensor was on the diff so their 3 channel  :-\

So the answer is ...........
Any order
A couple of squirts each nipple
And don't let it drop too far or i'll end up breading the clutch too  ::)

Thanks  :-*

no, you bleed each nipple until you see plenty of clean, airless fluid. This can take a while if you've fitted a new master cylinder or long brake pipe.

Nothings been changed Nick.
The brakes have never been particularly good with a soft pedal.
I had to stand on the brakes last week due to some dickhead on a bike, all in black with no lights pulling across me while doing 40 ish  :-X.
The car stepped sideways for a second until I relesed some brake pressure.
Upto now i've found pads which was half worn and a seized slide on the passenger side  :(

When Serek swapped the slush box for a proper one a couple of years ago, he mentioned that the fluid was shite and needed changing  :(
2 years and 12K miles later, i'm finally getting around to it  :-[
Hopefully fresh fluid in the callipers which hasn't been boiled should get rid of the spongy pedal  :-\

The fluid is probably 155K old too
