Omega General Help / Engine/box Change Issue

When i had my Omega converted from 2.5 to 3.0 the person who done this used the Gearbox ECU from the 2.5 hence it still has a AR25 ECU.

I had an issue where i kept getting Gearbox fault coming up so decided to have it checked out and was told it should of have had the proper AR35 ECU fitted at the time of the conversion.

So can anyone clarify this ??

I have 2 AR35 ECU'S sitting around so no issues there just want to know

The gearbox fault has not appeared for over a week now by the way.....

Omega General Help / MV6 Tracking

After recently purchasing a Preface MV6 3.0 Manual, i have noticed a wheel wobble at around 65mph and also uneven wear on the rear tyres...

I have heard there is a specialist close to me near chesham somewhere i believe, so if anyone has their contact details please let me know

Omega General Help / 3.0 cams or a 3.2 transplant

Yep i have decided i want more power as i have now got used to the 2.5, after coming from a 236bhp RS Turbo and a 450BHP Cosworth it was not going to take long was it

Anyway a good friend from the forum has adviced to get hold of a ex police 3.2 and do the transplant this way as i also want to swop over the suspension at the same time..

Option 2

Would to be to just put in 3.0 cams and lower the car 40mm and upgrade the shocks to help with the suspension, in time i want 18" wheels also, just tried 19" snowflakes and they looked poor..

also i would if possible think about high lift cams along with bigger injectors and  bigger fuel pump and possibly remapping etc etc

any advice is listened too and appreciated

I'm planning if its possible to tranfer the following from a pre facelift S REG MV6 into a Facelift V6 CDX W REG

The key question is it possible

3.0 engine and box

MV6 front/rear seats only

full front/rear suspension

Omega General Help / MV6 or Elite

I'm seriously going to look to upgrade from my 2.5 CDX facelift soon to either an MV6 or a Elite facelift but cant make my mind up which route to take and need some help.

My want list would be in silver if poss, saloon with Auto box and leather a must, engine size anything 2.5 upwards as insurance and fuel not an issue.

I need to sell mine to help finance this project first as i know i will have to spend to get the right car so if anyone would be interested in a very nice clean V6 CDX auto 97,000 FSH recently replaced cam sensor clear side indicators, Camblelt and tensioners replaced along with the waterpump aux belts and a full service 10 miles ago and soon to have 12 mths mot in May let me know.

I'm looking to change at the end of May so i'm in no rush as yet but just need some good advice...

Car will be at the Reading meet on 04/04 weekend

Does anyone know if my Alloy wheels from my Vectra would fit directly onto my Omega, They were 5 stud OZ super touring fitted with 245/45/17 tyres but was worried about the offset etc etc..

Omega General Help / IDLE CONTROL VALVE

I have a Bosch idle control valve with mounting bracket from a 2000 W 2.5 V6 if anyone wants one for nothing, yes nothing, just pay the postage and you can have it, its been cleaned out with carb cleaner and re oiled  and operates very smoothly.

If it helps someone out i'm happy !!!!

Omega General Help / Omega V6 Cambelt

The cambelt on Omega V6 is due in 10,000 miles if they need to be done every 40,000 and was wondering if any of the members on here could recommend anyone in my area to trust to do the job ? i have heard Vauxhall would charge £300 to do the job which to a novice like myself seemed reasonable. Im based near to watford in hertfordshire by the way so if you do know someone trustworthy please let me know.

Also along with the belt,tensioners etc is it wise to have the water pump replaced too ?

Omega General Help / Frustrated

Recently i had an issue where the car would idle up and down between 500 and 1200 rpm when cold and at normal temp, from cold it is even worse and stalls all the time unless you keep the revs up however i was advised to change the ICV and this would eliminate the problem, to which i have done but still have the same problem, i cant see any leaks on any of the vacum pipes either.Any help would be appreciated before i take it to Vauxhall....

PS The problem is not constant..however very annoying

Omega General Help / Idle Control Valve

Took the idle control valve off this morning and cleaned it out properly with carb cleaner and finished the job off with a bit of 3 in 1 oil, put it all back together and it now purrs away although i think a little fast on tickover, it currently ticks over at 900 in drive and 1500 in park also i cant see any way of adjusting this so any help would be appreciated, also when i took the ICV off one end was taped up with black tape with just a small hole in the tape ?? This was the opposite end to the electrical connection by the way....

Omega General Help / couple of problems

Morning, i'm looking to buy an omega but the car i was looking to buy has the following problems and was wondering if this would be costly and hard to correct, the prblems are The drivers heated seat does not work, prob just a fuse (owners comment). Also it does not idle well when cold and tends to cut out if you are not moving. I belive this to be a common Omega problem (owners comments) but it runs fine when warm and idles correctly

Any help would be appreciated

Hi all, yes another newbie to the Omega world, yes i have been a keen Vauxhall fan over the years from a MK1 Astra GTE to a Vectra GSI, however now im getting older i would love to get hold of an omega upto £1,000 for my daily commute to work, as this is a 80 mile round trip made up of Motorway and fast A roads i would love some or any advise on what size engine and spec would be best to go far,  insurance is not an issue as i have full NCB etc...
