Thanks mate. I'm sending the car back home to the Democratic Republic of Congo
Are you going with.

I think you will find that you have to remove the whole rear shelf with blind just to get them out. Might be worth just taking the grilles out (as you can do that from the top) and then put some black card in under the shelt but on top of the speaker so that they will see a hole but no speaker. Where are you sending the car :)

Omega General Help / Re: door trim
« on: 29 July 2008, 21:42:34 »
I think most of the pre face lift omegs i have had this has happend to. Now if your lucky you should be able to get it back on but if it is bent then no way but you could prove me wrong ;). Your best bet is to go for the face lift door trim as this never happens to them. If you want to change all your door trims to face lift ones let me know as i have a full set for sale :)

Omega General Help / Re: Oil light on when ticking over.

I would say its more a sensor failing than pump because my car was doing exactly the same as yours. Get yourself to vauxhall and a new oil pressure switch should only set you back about £30 as thats what it cost for my 2.2DTI onTC.
Let us know how you get on :y

Omega General Help / Re: Cam cover gaskets
« on: 27 July 2008, 11:41:02 »
With cam cover gaskets only ever use gen part. You might find that you have to also change the cam covers aswell as with some omega's this needs to be done (all to do with what year of the engine) as we have just done this with the holy count's GNU but now there done they will not need doing for a very long time. Ask on here or at your vaxhall garage if you need to change the cover aswell. The cost of new covers with gaskets was just over £120 TC but its a small price to pay if you dont want your omega to go up in flames as this is what happens if they dont get changed or you ues non gen parts.

As you look at the engine from the front of the car its down and just to the back of the battery.

Omega General Help / Re: Do Iscrap my CD and buy a CDX?

Hi all -

I have been a proud Omega owner for the last 4 years - Y Reg - 2.2 CD - beautiful car in every way - but recent intractable sensor problems, very high fuel consumption etc. etc. - have meant it's expensive to run - and it's getting really costly in repairs (I'm not gifted, maintenance wise!).

I HAVE LOVED this car, and I want another Omega if possible.... now, would you believe, I have been offered (by a trusted friend) another absolutely immaculate Y Reg 2.2 - CDX Auto Leather - for £1,500 and I'm tempted to buy it [downside is it has 156K on the clock, but it's had a recent set of tyres, cambelt replacement 2 months ago, also fitted with newish (gas) shockers] It is returning a good 20% better fuel economy than my CD, too.

I'm thinking of scrapping the CD and buying the CDX. Does that seem reasonable - or too big a gamble?? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

What about LPG and plus if you have spent alot money on your car then i would keep it. An LPG system would set you back about £500 to £700 may even be less than as that is the price for a V6 engine DIY.

Get the stag kit from Jeremy at u-fit-lpg. His ebay user is u-fit (I think) but there are links to Jeremy's details on here somewhere (I'll have a look in a moment!)

You will pay under £700 for the full kit if you go for the more expensive 4-hole tank (80Litres) which isn't essential on the 3.0. I have, but only because I do a lot of miles (25-30k) and a lot of towing! When I collected my front end kit I was talking about multi-vales, as opposed to 4 separate valves, and there are apparently some new ones becoming available soon which can allegedly cope with up to approx 275bhb, so are a viable option for all Miggys!

As for the fitting... As you are only in Reading, Kevin Wood may be able to advise and possibly even lend a bit of a hand (obviously I can't say this for sure because I don't know what his time and commitments are like!!) I can almost certainly lend you a spare inlet manifold so you can install the injector nozzles in advance (on an exchange basis!)

I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage, as long as the car has been well maintained you should get at least the same again from it!! Mine's just gone past 121k and runs like new!! Also, LPG being a cleaner fuel means that the engine internals will last longer!  :y :y :y

I think there's going to be a full "how to" made up very soon, with input from all of the people who have done the DIY route. I know I'm planning to try and document some of the process when I fit mine in the next 3-4 weeks![/quote]

That would be great as i think i will be going down the LPG road soon myself. I said i never would again after my dads single point on a 2.0 16V 98 omega which was fitted by a company in glastonbury and was c**p.
Also i have seen on here a member has fitted the LPG filler to the towbar and i think i will do the same as it looked very tidy.

Stag is the name of the system that seems to be the one to get and i asked the question of how much and under £500 for a V6 system but that is for the front end only and NOT the tank. The price seems to be about £200 for a 90 litre tank and that will go in the back of the boot.
I have had a good look on the forum at members doing there own and have also had a very good look at an omega that has had a gas system fitted and i will be going down the DIY road. Hope this helps you but you will have to find out from the other forum members where you get the Stag system as i have not got that far yet :y

but the buyer will want to know where those flamin' wires go

Not your problem if you sell it on eBay!!  ;D ;D ;D

The Stag kit is under £500 for the front end, and it comes with fantastic instructions!!! You might even be able to get a discount if you don't need all the extra pipework etc but TBH I'd just get the whole lot and completely re-fit, including the rear to front fuel line!!

Was thinking of changing the front to rear fuel line at some point -- I don't like the way the original installers passed it over the chassis rail at the front ( petrol lines go through -- gas lines go over -- or under to be more accurate. If unfortunate enough to bottom the rail the lines would be ripped off !!!!!

Thats just lazy - I passed mine through the "3rd" hole in the chassis leg and even used a spare clip where it climbs up the inner wheelarch.  It's never going to look factory fit but I wanted it to be reasonably neat...

Having had a good look under the holy count's car i will also put mine through the chassis leg when i come to fit a gas system to it and i think at some stage we will also change the holy count's.

Wires on top are temp sensor

Can you get a wiring diagram for the kit?

Can I be the odd one out... I don't think you should fit this kit. Sell it on ebay for whatever you can, and buy a brand new Stag one. With the lengths you're going to, this won't be a great expense and you'll have the insurance of knowing the LPG kit is brand new and under guarantee...

What sort of money is a new kit and i take it that is just the front end because i might put one on my 3.0 as i have the use of a two post ramp and all the tools you could ever want  :)
