New omega but feels sluggish
« on: 06 August 2008, 18:43:41 »

Following on from my "Wrecked" thread last week I went and picked up another Omega this morning, a 2.5 CDX auto N reg.

It's a bit older than the last one but has done less miles.  Previous owner was a driving instructor and it's obvious from the overall condition of the car that he's looked after it,  inside is totally spotless and the outside has a tiny little bit of rust on the drivers door but apart from that there is not a mark anywhere.

This is the first automatic car i've ever owned and i was expecting to to be a little more sluggish than my previous manual but i'm quite surprised at just how sluggish it seems, even when it's in sports mode.

Is the sluggishness to be expected seeing how i'm used to a manual or is there something i should be looking at?

There will be some, but not a massive difference.

Breathers all clear
Nice clean filters & Plugs?

No fault codes?

Just remember how much longer the gears areas it's a 4 speed box. Mine does 50MPH in first so is slower off the mark than a manual.
A part from that what jimbob said. Filters, breathers etc which I'd be inclined to do on a car that was new to me anyway.

Being that a driving instructor owned the car it could need a damn good blow out down the motorway :)

Garage clear out in March 2011 and I will have a large amount of omega parts going very cheap.

and Dan's the man for the job by the sound of things ;)

Seriously quite difficult to get used to the driving style of autos after having manuals for ages - mine is either slugging around or kickdown screaming :D
