I ordered a "sniff" tester today, I hope it's not a head gasket but I have a sneaky susspission it could be...I don't know what else to do...It would be a shame to scrap it, after all this work and money I've put into it. Really shame...
And there is absolutely no other car that I like, nothing to replace it after more than 15 years of omega ownership.
So it will probably go for a rebuild if it happens to be a head gasket

Omega General Help / Head gasket?
« on: 28 February 2024, 18:20:23 »
Hi guys, my omega has always had some coolant missing, small amounts, nothing serious, but in latest month it became really strange.
Omega had heater core blocked so I did matrix flush and the heat is back. Job jobbed or so I thought...It developed a leak on lower heater hose fast clamp, so I cut plastic piece off and used hose clamp - success....not really...
it started leaking on HBV...replaced it and now it's dry as a bone....but leak transfered to radiator AUX pump, so I removed it and connected both radiator hoses together with a piece of steel pipe...And then leak transfered to fan switch on the top of lower radiator hose...
Strange thing is it only leaks a tiny bit when the engine is cooling down, not being hhot anymore.
What concerns me the most is, when the system is cold, next day after driving, coolant level is an inch low... if I open coolant bottle cap level rises close to max and a sound of pressure is released. Pressure in cold system makes me wonder if there is maybe head gasket problem....
Any help appreciated.
Thanks guys

I had the same problem with my project omega last year. Exactly the same. I bought the car with non working ac. Replaced a/c compressor, a/c radiator, all the seals just to find out expansion valve was stuck due to residue/debris from previous ruined compressor.
Final solution was to take omega to ac specialist who washed entire system of debris, replaced compressor again and now the system works fine.
But it did cost me an arm and a leg :-X

Omega General Help / Re: Part number help
« on: 19 February 2023, 13:56:00 »

I managed to clean the PAS pump still mounted on an engine and took a pic of a part number. It's hard to see but I believe it says 2602 5012....A quick google search later it seems those were fitted to Omegas 2.0, 2.2, 2.5 and 3.0.
Can someone confirm this to me before I order this part?
Thanks in advance, Stan

Thanks for your help :y
As for the pump hoes.....compared to my previous 2.5, tnis omega has pretty stiff steering and let's say it sometimes doesn't even work...Like trying to turn the steering wheell at idle rpm while cruising in neutral for example is sometimes really heavy. It always happens at idle rpm

Hi guys, I need the part number for power steering pump for my 3.0 V6 FL.
Part seller said there were two different pumps available, depending on chasis number but couldn't find matching part.
I would apreciate any help with this. Thanks, Stan

So.....I dont't know how you call this profession, but I took omega to the shop, where they took measures for turret tops and will make them from 2mm thick bent and welded sheet metal. The owner - very old bloke, was surprisingly impressed by omega and othervise rust free body of it.
But, there's always a but....body shop which will replace turret tops is fully booked until the middle of January.

Omega has new rear panels, new rocker panels, is completely sorted and was repainted this spring. I didin't even think it would rust trough where the shock is.
I don't want to scrap it
