I quite liked Edd although, some of the things he did made me cringe.

Oh, and his love for Hitlers air cooled pile of turd , that wasn't a good point either.

Like Top Gear, the programme is way past its sell by date, but no doubt has been kept going because the people involved make good money out of it.
Recent series have involved buying a car for around 10 grand, spending another few grand on buying shiny bits to bolt on, sending it away for a respray, then selling it on for a small profit. Pointless.
As for the series from the U.S. - purely a revenue generating exercise.

Edd China's leaving because he doesn't want to cut corners?  ???

I don't think I've ever seen him do the basics on the wrecks like change the oil and filters.  ::)  ;D

Having said that, I like Wheeler Dealers and its shame he's going.  As Top Gear proved carrying on with a tired format with new presenters doesn't always work.   ::)  I suspect the new show will be more about Mike and his BS!  :-\

Ignoring the premise of the programme, they've turned around several interesting cars and have hit upon alot of the common issues with each one as they've gone. Also demonstrated various things like how to check injector wiring.

I suspect that over the years they have been a genuine inspiration to people all over :y

The early series were responsible for rekindling my interest in working on cars, which had been dormant for about 15 years.
I bought, restored, then sold a 205 gti and doubled my money on it.
The BMW 635 episode where they swapped the complete interior, plus wheels etc. from a rotten scrapper on to their project was the inspiration for me to turn my CD spec Omega into an elite minus the self levelling.
The more recent series though............... ::)

I've noticed the more recent episodes have been more about plugging snake oil of various kinds and bolting on tat. Good for him for getting out of it rather than playing along, if that's where it's heading. I still won't forget the time he was at a petrol station in an "air cooled pile of turd" that had run out of leccy and turned down my offer of a jump start, though. ::)
