Title: battery problem?

y26se 2.6cdx  just a quickie(hopefully) when turning engine over after journey of 20 miles or so sounds like flat battery!.on short journeys ie 10 miles or so is fine every time?.charged battery run over 30 miles still same?. on the last drop of juice started.left it half a day and plenty of juice to start engine.is this battery? surely not stsarter or something bit more serious? thanx in advance.

hi keith,is that starter,battery internal or battery to body or alternator to battery etc etc.could you please be a little more specific thanx in advance.

Next time it's slow to start, take a pair of jump leads. Connect one end to the negative on the battery and the other end to a good solid piece of engine metal, see if it behaves better.

The crimps where the cables join the battery terminals are prone to working loose. Check that the battery terminals aren't getting hot and that the crimps are secure.

I had this problem a few years ago on my 3L fine when cold or even after letting it stand for half hour or so,but just sounded and acted like battery was flat when hot.In my case it turned out to be the crank sensor on its way out.At least I'm assuming that's what it was as from the time I replaced it[after it failed totally]the problem has not reappeared.
