can anyone educate me on how the plastic clip bits where the hose joins the pipe function....  how they're removed intact and how they're put back on tightly ??

it runs from the top heater matrix connection pipe at the bulkhead,  along the side of the head and then round into a pump looking kind of thing mounted under the edge of the expansion tank.... ish....

and it's a single run, no tee piece.

Modern cylinder vacs have powered brush heads/ carpet beaters. Cable runs down the tube part and plugs into the head. ;)
I was disappointed with the results of ours this morning until I realised I had forgot to plug the leccy connector into the head,so the brush wasn't spinning. ;D
Yeah, sorry I was talking about the 90s.

Not sure I could live with a cylinder any more. My last one lost a fight with a vegetable rack, bloody things ;D

last time i saw your vegetable rack, it was in fact a fairly sizeable stack of baked bean tins.....    at which point, i'm not surprised the hoover lost....

see that bottom picture....   the connector on the right hand side.....   that's where it's leaking,  there seems to be a securing ring on it that's failed.

can;t see a ring on that picture though....    (thanks rob!)

big old orange vax combi vacuum and carpet shampoo thingy here,  in fact got 2 of them, one for work and one for home....   pretty much bullet proof operationally,  casing tends to crack around the wheel spigots on the base....   but still works fine....

copes with anything and everything.....

top one is the straight one....

brilliant....

is the hard plastic clip assembly all part of it ?   there seems to be a green bit of a plastic ring on the back side , towards the bulkhead, that's broken on mine....   about the size of a 3-4 inch cable tie

hopefully you  know what i mean,  coz i'm pretty sure i don't know what else to call it...

can you let me know price inc postage ?   cheers.

but thanks for the offer.....  I found a leak this afternoon,    A leak, don't know if it's THE leak.

it turns out that the leak is only obviously visible once the cars been up to temperature and thermostat is fully open and so on....

top connector to heater matrix , there's a broken bit of plastic on the joint with the metal pipe...  i spotted this earlier, but couldn't detect a leak,   but when it's fully up to temperature and it's had about a 6-7 mile run,  and it's DAYLIGHT  it's dead obvious....

General Discussion Area / Re: Super Glue scratch fix
« on: 09 October 2013, 13:13:49 »
Super glue has a couple of useful properties...

1) rather than "cratering" in to a hole when dry, it builds "up"  , so it can then be sanded flat without too much being taken off the surrounding original lacquer

2) it dries matte but clear,  and can be polished,  much the same way as most acrylics,  like perspex etc...    finer and finer grade papers, then using a cutting compound like t-cut,  followed by a finer metal polishing variant,  like brasso.

it can also be coloured, if desired....   although for a metallic finish,  i'd normally try and match the base coat in the base of the scratch , then fill the top with superglue in clear form,  rather than trying to mix paint and glue...
