Title: Anyone had snow yet where they live?
Post by: Varche on 29 October 2018, 20:43:25
Ruddy end of October and we have had snow already. It didnt lay but it has been cold. I think the air came all the way from Scarborough.

When we first arrived here in central Andalucia , the locals said “We havent had snow for fifty years” . I would say since then we have had snow 1 in 2 years. Sometimes bad enough to be snowed in/out but never for long thankfully.

IDS has steadfastly refused my invite to stay in the winter with the only proviso that he lights, stokes and fetches logs for the log burner. Thanks for getting rid of the winter fuel allowance for expats living in “ hot Spain”,  he frigged the average temp by including Spanish overseas dependencies. We had minus 14C one year.⛄️❄️☃️💨

It won't snow until the 17th of November. I forbade it... ;)

That said, I have only just got up, so couldn't say if we had a frost last night or not ::)

I did go and start the car to warm and defrost it wearing a short sleeved t-shirt....

...but decided to put a light fleece on when I subsequently left ;D

Saw a guy down the road hacking at the ice on his car windows yesterday morning, so put my old fan heater in passenger footwell on extension lead. Few mins later, job jobbed. :y Oh the joy of having the car on the drive.

I've seen a few cars in other parts of the world that have an aftermarket 12v heater setup that plugs into a port on the house wall (presumably timer or inside switch) that defrosts while you stay warm inside.

If it was colder more of the year here, that would be my preferred solution - probably not expensive either.
