omega v6 temp gauge wiring help

hi there i am trying to sort my wiring out for my 2jz converted omega i have the wire for the temp gauge does it need to be earthed to the engine to work or is there another wire that makes the gauge work on the dash any help would be great thanks  :)

Connects to the sensor on the coolant bridge. Inside orange oval in pic

not on a 2jz,toyota engine,it will connect to the water temp sender but depending on type of switch used may have to be modified to work  :y

The sensor is earthed by screwing into the coolant bridge.  :y

hi i have the sender and the wire i was going to drill and tap it to one of the water outlets but when i test it in hot water im not getting a signal thanks does it need to be earthed to the engine to work :y

yes it earths via the block so as it makes the circuit and moves needle on dash
