Title: Bonnet struts
Post by: BazaJT on 11 March 2018, 13:36:12
The gas[or whatever they are]that hold the bonnet open worth buying good used? The ones on mine won't hold the bonnet when it's cold[they seem fine at the present when the weather's warm. Are they the same for F/L as for earlier cars or did they change?

Probably the same, although facelift bonnets are heavier, so best to go like for like :-\

New ones are cheap enough to make used pointless.
FL are supposed to be stronger for the heavier bonnet, so if you're worried about such things, just buy them.

Mine creak as I open the bonnet. Do they need lubricating or replacing?

I'm with Nick W on this.  I think I paid £20 a pair for new ones, delivered.

Also same, I bought new front and rear struts as both sets were very fatigued.

Much better now.  :)
