Grrr, need to reboot network switch
« on: 03 September 2017, 09:26:01 »

Poxy, useless, crappy netgear shite.  >:(

Looks like its misrouting untagged packets across an etherchannel, hence dropping packets. Tagged packets look to be OK. Poxy useless piece of shit.

Trouble is, as the primary storage hangs off this, it means everything has to come down before the switch can be rebooted. Expect a 3 hour outage later  >:(

Have I ever mentioned that all Netgear stuff is shite. Absolute shite.

Just ban it in your new empire  (or is that Reich) TB, and shoot those responsible for it.

I thank God that I am not involved in all that IT stuff, so can offer no advise whatsoever!! ::) ::) :D :D :D ;)

Funnily enough, I had problems printing something on Friday...

The printer was about to "fall down the stairs" when I looked at the switch connecting it to the network. Netgear.. I wonder? Restarted switch and suddenly it works again. >:(

Since the accident (of it falling down the stairs by itself) of my last Epson, I have not felt the need for another printer accident.

IMO Nothing wrong when a PC or peripheral is FUBARED and where it might be suspended in the land of the undead to make sure it is FUBARED^2 so it arrives in smaller bits in a proper graveyard. :y :y :y

Glad to confirm over the last 20 years that a temperamental HP inkjet was put out of its misery, followed by a year or two later by a Xerox photocopier, ouch, that one really was shown who was boss, followed by a 4m pixel Olympus camera with a temperamental lens which with the use of gravity + extra 0.5m * V^2 to make sure the bits knew who was the boss. Recently a rechargeable LED torch decided it wanted to play games but got a reprieve where the cracked lens and other bits were reassembled and it decided to work again! :o :o :o

Never hurts to remind temperamental technology that Humans & Sammy are the real bosses. :y ;D ;D ;D
