Title: Alarm speaker
Post by: Andy B on 05 January 2020, 15:45:11

The alarm on my caravan  ::) should beep once or twice when arming or dis-arming. Trouble is, at the moment, though the siren will blast out if the alarm is triggered, the speaker that should beep is only very very faint. I've opened up the alarm & think I've identified the little speaker itself as fubar'd .... if I put 9 volts across it (easier to use a 9 volt battery than bring a car battery into the house  ;)) I get a similar clicking sound as I do when arming or dis-arming.

Anyone any suggestions as to where I might get hold of a similar speaker to this?
TIA

I found this (https://www.amazon.co.uk/3-24V-Piezo-Electronic-Buzzer-Continuous/dp/B0776S4BNL/ref=pd_sbs_60_18?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0776S4BNL&pd_rd_r=307be200-9bad-4b1b-adae-2534e837dfd1&pd_rd_w=j6b26&pd_rd_wg=a0YQy&pf_rd_p=f4a31d1d-8f61-48f5-b6f4-a22ba06df575&pf_rd_r=FH4WHWWQMAWC7WK8A7S1&psc=1&refRID=FH4WHWWQMAWC7WK8A7S1) which looks like it might be OK

I would say no, you look to have a piezo sounder where as the one you linked to is a piezo buzzer.

The buzzer will have circuitry in it which you don't want.

Look for a Piezo speaker

It was actually one of these inside the housing .... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/27mm-Piezo-Transducer-with-90mm-leads-Ceramic-sounder-pickup-element-pack-of-2/113766620496?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144

I tried one of the speakers that Rods linked to and though it appeared to work to start became hit & miss within a few goes of arming/disarming.
