General Car Chat / Re: Troublesome exhaust but full MOT!
« on: 16 March 2018, 22:20:57 »
Before I changed the exhaust on my car I phoned up the garage to save me the hassle of changing it to be met by the response that the bolts might be rusty and they didn't really want to do it. so with only the rear of the car on ramps I struggled to drill out the bolts with countless bits but after starting out ok they veered of centre so I gave up. and decided to replace the entire system which despite what people say IS a pig of job but I completed it and I wish I hadn't to be honest because the thing sounds really tinny, but never mind its done.

I suppose I was lucky when I swapped the second hand one that had been rattling around the boot of the 3.2 for months into the 2.5 and it started first time and still does..

I've got a 1976 avenger and a 71 avenger.. that have been sat in the garden for nearly 19 and 13 years respectively. and they still move and are not totally rusted away surprisingly..

Omega General Help / Re: Test Drove an Omega, advice please?
« on: 25 February 2018, 20:36:41 »
The MOT history seems to be good with mostly worn tyres having an advisory and nothing much else. but of course it doesn't mean that the car is ok now. but truth be told if a car sounds and feels ok it usually is but if you're in any doubt get the price down or walk away. as there are several other cars out there..

I was the only one here in the house that felt the earthquake at around 2:31pm. as the floor and cupboard door and TV unit had a bit of a rattle. and apparently i'm less than 40 miles from the centre of the actual quake itself.

Might the gold elite be the one that was on ebay recently?.

To make damn sure you have enough structure left get under with a good torch and poke the chassis rails front and rear and obviously the sills. but don't forget to give the rear inner arches a good look at as well and also behind the rear bumper and suspension mounting points. which is what I never did when i bought my car from the breakers yard.....
