They cant have done a very good comparison then.......200+ miles in a Senator and then back to an Omega and you soon realise!

And reliability.....viscous fans not working, cruise not working (although ours did), blower speed control not working, knocking drop links, worn wishbone bushes, iffy brakes, non-working suspension etc etc etc.....how can the Omega be worse....it just sounds the same to me!

I take it the senny was never MOT'd then ;D

Yep....and still has 10 months left....I am quite piccy though. The brakes would pass an MOT but, needed a real good look at.

Blimey what with the dodgy droplinks and worn wishbone bushes I thought it surely wouldn't pass  :o

I'm fairly sure droplinks aren't a fail, because even though they're checked, when they're checked they're under tension and therefore don't have play!!

I have to say that having driven the Omega this morining that it is an order of magnitude better as a car than the Senator......quieter, better power delivery, smoother, nicer ride.......no bloody viscous fan....

See! That's what I keep telling everyone on the ABS forum, but they've either had bad experience with an Omega and didn't believe me or just plain didn't believe me!!!  ::)
:-X  :-X  :-X  :-X Bloody Omegas  ;)

I still recon it was a damn complicated way of getting the engine bay steam cleaned.

Mark, can I give you £100 for your estate and have a go next year?

 ;D ;D

Actually the electronic ride control still works fine!  ;)

All in all, the Senator is damn good car. It needs a bit of work, but it is very sound and, when asked wil haul you along at a heck of a rate (including round country lanes!) :)

Hence the reason that although I love my Omega and IMO it is a better car, I'm going to have a Senator as a plaything once I come back from Italy!!!  ;)

The majority of that lot's already on my list. The problem's going to come when trying to figure outr what tools to take and which to leave behind, 'cos I'll bet the law of Sod will be in full effect!!!!

Oh! And WTF's self amalgimating tape??? :-?

Its tape that sticks to itself creatinga jointless bond....its very water proof and that with a jubilee clip or two and Stella can will fix a split hose.

Tools.

Sockets - Selection
Spanners - Selection
Screw drivers
Wire cutters
Hammer
Length of pipe (for brake fluid change or similar)
Water pump pliers
Jump leads
Tow rope/pole
Jack (Optional)
Axle stands (Optional)

Maybe a few crimps and crimp tool.

Now i feel very irresponsible that i have driven 3 times from UK to Greece without even carrying a screwdriver the first time with a car that had the same cambelt for 65k miles.
I would add to your list a full set of sensors.
