General Discussion Area / Miggys at the auctions..
« on: 28 June 2010, 18:34:53 »
Been down to the local auction and 2 miggys went through :

52 reg 2.6 cdx with 100,000 on the clock, leather and was immaculate, typical one older owner mudflaps and Vx mats stylee. I was definately up for bagging it and waited ages for it's turn. Soon as the guy started it it sounded like a bag of bolts in a washing machine, I've never heard a miggy sound so sick and yet still be driveable. Bids went up to £475 but that still didn't win it!!!

X reg 2.0 gls with 51,000 on the clock and one bubbly arch but mint otherwise, bidding went up to £500 but this was not accepted by the SEAT dealer who sent it in.

What do you reckon to their worth?? would the 2.6 have been worth repairing?

The usual strange Wednesday lunchtime debate has occured, this time about biccies!

Has anyone seen these in years, Big round shortcake with milk chocolate on one side and came in packs of four?

Rumours persist that they are still made but has anyone seen any in shops anywhere? Bloody lovely with a cuppa!

Hardly the seychelles but I am off to a log cabin in Snowdonia, Wales for a few days with my ickle daughter and the missus.

Fixed all the little bits and bobs on the miggy in preparation for some bloody good drives through the national park.

It's been a bugger of a year so far and am looking forward to the peace and quiet!!

Any oofers up that way??

General Discussion Area / callcenter location
« on: 26 May 2010, 20:32:07 »
Just been doing battle with Elephant insurance and noticed the girl had an unusual accent............Canadian, based in Nova Scotia to be exact  :o

Nice to deal with someone without the language problems we have all had at some point when you end up talking to Jaipor or suchlike but I doubt canadians would cost much less to pay than Brits if they based their call center over here in blighty!!

Some of the old Elites could be knocking on for 15 years old now so was just wondering!

General Discussion Area / VX parts dep't AARRGGGHH
« on: 14 April 2010, 09:15:49 »
Was supplied the wrong crank sensor in Nov last year, only one option showing on the system for my reg number so took it, part had been supplied to someone prior to me and returned ( presume for the same reason) apparently now the system shows 3 options but the pleb manager won't exchange the one I have for the right one despite knowing they ballsed up.

Any ideas of how to take this further with Vaux or consumer rights?

General Discussion Area / Tempting/shocking offer
« on: 09 April 2010, 07:52:22 »
We got took over by a new firm 6 months ago and basically all the managers are p*ssed off as they have been a bit cack. They asked our opinon of them which we gave honestly with the intent of getting things sorted out and improve things . Their response was, you can take 4 months salary and bog off with a reference if you don't like it :o.....Why ask for feedback and react like this?

I wish the job market in my sector was better as I would have bitten their bloody hand off :(!

General Discussion Area / Good Friday hypocrisy
« on: 02 April 2010, 17:38:42 »
Just been to the local chippy and the owner had me in stitches..Apparently the majority of the local gangsters have been in for fish n chips. So it's ok to sell guns , drugs and cause general misery but they resolutely refuse to eat meat on Good Friday! How lovely >:(

General Discussion Area / Close shave today...
« on: 14 March 2010, 16:41:35 »
I was hoofing along the M57 today when all of a sudden the steering goes wayward, loads of banging and vibrations and plumes of smoke from the front right....Lucky enough the two lanes I was careering about in where clear and I managed to get it under control and onto the hard shoulder whilst noticing something black in the rear view mirror flying through the air.  Genuinely thought I had lost a wheel or at least the tyre had blew out until I got out to see the wheel arch liner had gone and was currently causing mayhem in the middle lane :o. I was about to call the traffic plod to get it off the carraigeway when a 38 tonner kindly minced it up good style.

End result =skiddy undies, melted plastic all over the tyre, a chunk out of the exhaust heatshield and a bit of the inner wheel arch bent out, can't see any more damage but will have a better look tomorrow. Really surprised that something so flimsy could really mess the steering up as it did and suggest you make sure yours are secure!!!

General Discussion Area / Why do women...

.... appear surprised that they have to pay for their shopping at the checkout in the supermarket, seriously watch them, they pack it all into bags , hawk it into their trollies then just stand there. The checkout girl says xx pounds and it's like the world stops or slows down for three seconds.............then the realisation hit's them like a thunderbolt  "Oohh I need to pay for this don't I"  Then the purse search starts OMG!!!!!!

And while I am at it what the hell do they do at cash machines that takes 5 times longer than men?
Is there a secret chat facility for the ladies?

Not an anti lady rant as I love them dearly but sometimes wonder if they live on a seperate planet ;)

General Discussion Area / Stupid gate question!
« on: 29 December 2009, 14:50:29 »
Just in the process of gating off the drive at the side of my house and am planning on making the gates(130cmx180cm each gate) myself due to the ridiculous costs being quoted, they dont need to be anything fancy so it occured to me I could just use plywood instead of faffing around with T&G.

Does anyone here have ply gates? or is there any reason it shouldnt be used?

Excuse the dimness, but been out digging the post holes and got brain freeze

« on: 12 December 2009, 13:51:24 »
Just been up for the Crimbo decs and noticed a lot of condensation on the inside of the felt!!

Had the cavity walls and the loft insulated this year so think that is the cause but any ideas how to sort this ?

Guess there are a few roofers etc on here so would be grateful for any tips.
