over the last 10 years I think I have had about 2 percent pay rise in total
how much has eveyone else had?
Over the last .. well lets say 14 years, because I can do the maths easily .. uh, a lot more than 2%. I'll get my coat now.
During my wilderness years of working for that tinpot yankie firm, I had way below inflation payrises, even before the 2008 crash, grrrr
To be fair, when I started at my current company (14 years ago), I was "young" (mid 20s) and relatively early in my career.
Now I'm the old codger and we're hiring people who could be my kids (41 this year), and I'd guess I've seen all the big rises my salary is ever likely to see..
'course, my tax bill is big enough to pay someones entire salary, now (I jokingly said that to a friend who works for HMPS, he asked what my tax bill was .. he confirmed it would, indeed, pay his salary
)
