Title: The Next Meeting Of The Jocular Omegas, Easter 07
Post by: Jim on 20 February 2007, 12:33:21
Hello Guys,
Well I Think it's about time we started a new thread about the Next Meeting of the Jockular Omegas.

How's about Easter Monday, 9th April 07 on the Bonnie, Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond and make a day of it and have a BBQ, I was thinking about Rowerdannen at the base of Ben Lomond it's a Great Location and it's on the quieter east side of the loch and the road ends there so no through traffic :)

Tell me what you think!!!!!!!!

BTW is Easter Monday a bank holiday in Scotland? I'm a student so I can take it off regardless but just curious as to the choice of that day.

The  reason I choice this date was the fact that it was a bank holiday, as the last time we tryed to organise a date people where working, so I chose a bank holiday to maximise attendence :)

There is a great picnic area there right next to the car park :y

Location is fine, not been round that way for AGES so why not?

May be a trek for some others, though...

You fancy a whisky tour?

Glenturret Distillery location (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?pc=PH74HA&GridE=&GridN=&scale=50000&title=thanks+to+scotchwhisky.net&cat=h&mapsize=small)

Its quite central(ish)...

If partners were attending, could be left wandering the glass factory type places in Crieff.

Sorry chaps, but I think that is getting a wee bit too far away for me!  :'(
That must be at least another hour past Stirling, I think, and that means around 8 hours driving in total, probably more knowing the frigging tourists on the A9 on bank holidays. >:(
For your next one after this try somewhere around Perth, its a more central location for everyone! ;)
Have fun boys (& girls).

Jim,
I'm going to have to disagree with you mate. It takes me 2.5 hours to get to Stirling on a good day, 3 hours to glasgae. :-[
With that being Easter bank holiday weekend, the roads are going to be busier anyway. :(
Remember dude, my roads up here only have 1 lane going either way, mostly. :'(  :'(

Its a no for me Jim  :'(  :'(
Dates okay, but as said before it's too far.
I am not going to suggest a change of location, just to suit me.
Have fun, and I maybe be up for the next one, assuming I'm still a barge owner then.
Take care.

Have spoken to DaveL who may also be there, depends on the shifts of his other half.

Any time mentioned, save me dredging back the thread (lazy git that I am this morning...   ;D  )

As Bruce has mentioned i could well be attending and looking forward to meeting you all.
Having checked with other half and her shifts fall o.k. for the meet so pencil me in. :y

I can bring along a camping twin stove and a barby so could have some sort of cook out.

Fire brigade on stand by ;D ;D

What sort of timings are we talking about?

Time and location good by me.

If someone is bringing a BBQ to produce the charcoaled offerings, then I can bring some local butcher chunky pork and apple burgers, some fresh venison burgers and the like??

Will you need filters for all that oil? If so, may be worth double checking if you have the older spin on type, or newer paper element type...

Nope, filters not required thanks.  Got a stock in already of the spin ons plus the oil will do the 4 cars, two bikes and the air compressor in the family, not just meega...   :y
Aye, the Vx Semi goes in the Omega, the Rover, The Kawasaki, and the lawnmower :y

I'm not gonna say whether I'm going or not. Being a bank holiday, I'll be off work, but I'm not sure what's happening yet.

Last time I said I'll go a wee run to Loch Lomond I ended up getting there...and going right past it all the way to Oban  :D Fantastic roads there, perfect surface, only one flaw where a corner had slightly subsided. Great run ;)

Lawman - its worth the run, even if only for a stop off for a slash and dash pitstop, a burger and a can of juice en route to Oban again!

Go on, you know it makes sense!!   ;D ;D

Hello,
Well the road on the east side of Loch Lomond ends at Rowerdannen so there is no chance of going to far. Head for Drymen then Balmaha then follow the signs for Rowerdannen, then look for a shed load of Omega Owners Eating Burger's Easy :y

Firstly, I do not (thankfully) own a caravan  >:(

Secondly, I wouldn't ruin our lovely Rover 25 by sticking a shin breaker on it  >:(

Seriously, no way I could make it that far for such a short time (busy before and after easter).

Secretly hoping to be able to make the lake district meet if it goes ahead, would be great to meet you northerners :)

I'm off visiting over the weekend to a wee place down south called Rowthenstal.  >:(

I'll be coming back home on the Monday morning, so i don't think i'll be there for mid-day.

I may just have to be fashionably late....again.

Not much in the way of burgers available today (watch this space, will do some more rooting around) but did manage to get some lamb burgers.  And venison sausages with red wine and garlic.  And Buffalo (yep, you read it right) sausages with Guinness.

Will go to a butcher I know and get the pork and apple burgers as well as some straight beefburgers for the traditionalists among you.....   ;)

I'm hoping to come along too. What time's kick-off?

Dave

Good to see you on here Dave, looks as though most will be there about mid-day. Mini convoy's are getting to-gether so you may be able to meet up with someone coming from your neck of the woods. :y

Hi DaveL,

Which way will you be going?

I'll be heading through on the back roads from Stirling so I guess we could meet around there somewhere?

Was gonna try to change plans to meet you all there but now car will be spending the day in the garage getting cat section of the exhaust fitted along with new tyres and tracking fixed.

if i'm out in time and able to zip along i will do, but looks unlikely, will just need to wait for the next time.

Cool. I could meet up with you guys at Kinross... or... I guess you'll be passing Stirling Services at some point which would give me at least another 30 minutes in my kip  ;D.

Any more of the Fife posse heading through?
