Quote from OP: “garage owner is a friend so not out to try and rip me off.” Well maybe not, but he employed incompetent mechanics. Just read this again Albs, and being Omega-less now, I needed a nostalgia fix, the thread was a useful learning curve, and must have been good training for the Frog.  :y

Ahhh, Ford Pop, my first car, NTM661. Happy memories of flogging it up the old A6 at weekends back and forth between Bucks and Lancs. :y

No argument from me, I was disagreeing with Lizzie’s description of Diana.

Which is pretty much the tone of Prince William's statement yesterday.

I’m glad he agrees with me.  :)

Yes I love the BBC, as out of all the media it is the one I think you can trust most.

But, like everything else, it is only as good as the weakest people who work for that organisation ;).

If you do the tiniest bit of research on the Martin Bashir fiasco, you will find that Beeb did their own investigation when the first rumblings of a problem started.
They produced a whitewash which cleared him, and the Director General then stated that Bashir was an honourable man.
Bashir was until last week, Head of religious programming on the BBC, but resigned when he knew what this report was going to say about him.

The cover up had been uncovered at last and he and the BBC had nowhere left to hide.
As an organisation, the BBC is a national disgrace and should be shut down today.

Yes I have heard all that, but to “shut down” today what is overall a very sound global news broadcaster over a bad situation all those years ago is just nonsense. All organisations can have a bad day, even bad year, but judge them on what they do now in 2021, not in 1995.

In any case Princess Dianne was badly flawed and that interview was not influenced by anything Bashir did; she had primed herself to dish the dirt to whoever was going to listen to her, BBC, ITV, Fox News, The Sun, etc, etc.

So to rubbish the BBC today is just daft. If you don’t like the BBC productions, then switch to another channel.  Simples.  ;)

No, just an innocent virgin married off to a man who was in love with a married woman, and who had no intention of keeping to the old-fashioned practice of sticking to his marriage vows.
Plus the interview was obtained by deceipt, not only resulting in the unfair loss of
many jobs at the Beeb, but, arguably, indirectly resulting in her tragic death.

Taking the Anne Boleyn case to its logical conclusion, and given current gender fluidity, such parts can now be played by any colour, or gender. I have enough difficulty when they produce Shakespeare in modern dress.  ???

According to the 2011 Census, the total population of England and Wales was 56.1 million, and 86.0% of the population was White.

From 2001 to 2011, the percentage of the population of England and Wales that was White British decreased from 87.4% to 80.5%, while the Other White group saw the largest increase in their share of the population, from 2.6% to 4.4%

Aviva = Norwich Union.

DANGER! WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!

Daughter was flooded last year, Aviva have been superb dealing with it, as opposed to AXA, also involved.
I am having serious problems with Admiral at present. Having asked them to complete a pdf document, they have claimed, several times, over some weeks, that they are unable to read it, despite it being readable on every other platform I’ve sent it to. When I asked why they are the only company in the world unable to read pdf documents, they replied “ Happy to Help” We have cancelled your home insurance policy from xx/xx/2020, (a date mentioned in the ‘unreadable’ pdf, which is not a request for policy cancellation or anything similar.) Needless to say, I shall not be renewing with them.
STOP PRESS: Just received their latest which begins: “We are deeply regret that.....etc”
I give up.

I am very sad to hear of Terry’s passing. As others have said, he was clearly a loving family man, frequently working on family vehicles. My sincere condolences to Tricia and family.
Happy spannering Terry.
