Not so sure about Daily mail readers, though!  :-\

Ron.

You're quite right Ron, should I have said Son of a Sex Worker?  :-\

Yes, this has been developing recently and shows the true nature of Momentum and Corbyn.  The latter is actually blocking the building of desperately needed houses in this Borough and inhibiting the democratic process. Says it all for me! >:( >:( >:(

This is actually good news, Rog, let’s have more like this. No one, apart from the deluded fools of momentum, could ever see this as anything more than communism, and the British voting public are really not as daft as you think.
Except, maybe, in some northern towns, where Chairman Mao would be a shoo in.

I think you've missed the point a bit, as we're kicking Corbyn not the homeless.  It's the message that he's sending, that you don't have to bother because the government will look after you.  That's what's wrong!  ::)
I have an (ex, fortunately) relative who genuinely believes that the state should pay for her, and she should not have to work.

To assist her with her dream, she ensured she got up the duff and had a mixed-race child, as apparently that helps. That was 15+ years ago, and still she hasn't worked, and receives enough benefits to pay for her 3 bed, state provided home.  When the government a few years ago started making noises about getting people back to work, I've never seen her so angry, completely oblivious to the fact that it was unfair that people had to work so she didn't have to get off her lazy ass.

She always votes Labour, moreso since the death of New Labour.

As you say, that's wrong. But its the message being sent out by Corbyn

As for sympathy for the homeless, I've been in a position where I nearly did have to sleep rough, but with only an hour or so to spare, managed to sort out cheap digs for a few weeks until I was able to sort (afford) something more viable. Yes, it was significantly out of town, so I had to get up stupidly early to get to work, and get home stupidly late, and cook baked beans by dangling the can in a kettle, and eat out of the can, but I was prepared to do that.

So, as DG says, its in the Dictionary...

Well done, TB; you are an example to us all. I am sincere and not taking the Michael Bliss!

Also, it does seem to be a common career path for many of our young girls nowadays - get knocked up and immediately apply for free housing and benefits.

Ron.

Pregnancy rates for young women have now halved and are the lowest since the 1960's.  In addition the amount of housing benefit they can claim has been reduced and really limits them to small council or housing association accommodation. Indeed, in the private rental sector a young women with a baby will only get housing benefit to cover shared or one room accommodation.

So, at last, the young are no longer seeing a pregnancy as an easy way to live without working. That culture is dying, and anyway a young girl on her own with a baby is no easy life. ;)

Agree !

This may seem harsh. I had a sister, she got pregnant, spent many years on benefits, and eventually smoked herself to death last year, early 60s. Lung cancer. Died quite badly. I believe that most people should contribute something to society. Maybe not financially, but serving some purpose, doing some job no matter how humble. Even the most humble of jobs contributes something in some way. My sister contributed f***k all, she simply consumed and took anything on offer. At the funeral the funeral director tried to come up with something of worth to say, she had one job for about 18 months, that was it. He really struggled.

If I personally know of one person, how many others are there ?

PS
And as for disabilities, disadvantages, circumstances etc she thought of everything you could think of, and quite a few that you couldn't. I recall her calling me, her daughter (who is actually ok, not on the same benefits treadmill) had been in a minor car accident, what were the chances of claiming for whiplash injury ?

Arrrgghhhh I better stop before I get REALLY cross . . . .

They are legion, Mister Rog, which is why I find it hard to believe Lizzie's data.
On those occasions when I venture amongst the great unwashed - on buses, for example - I see many "pramfaces" with one or two kids and maybe another up the spout, no ring and no sign of a bloke in attendance. As you might expect with no father to exercise discipline, they are the most unruly, disruptive and ill-mannered sprogs you could have the misfortune to be near.  >:(

We know one.

Had a boy with one bloke, girl with another. Social services at one point were very concerned he was abusing her.

Time passed and boy got a girl in care pregnant. Couldnt have her move in as she would lose all her benefits.

You couldnt make it up

A very common benefits scam is for a girl to go and look at a house to rent posing as a single Mum.  The Landlord/Agency rents her the the house and then of course the (often working) boyfriend moves in as well, but because everything is in her name, she claims housing benefit etc etc

Sometimes they turn up together bold as brass and are shamelessly open about their plan!  :o  ::)

At the factory I`m working for at the moment, there`s young couple with a little one  :)
They both work their socks off to make a living. They rely on the grand parents to child mind. They rent an ex council flat which overlooks a motorway & pay more in rent per month then most pay for their mortgage
They don`t receive housing benefit & the lad is now after a Sunday job.  One the supervisors has a a static caravan on the IOW & has offered to them for the Easter week holiday :) If Corbyn is offering housing, these are the ppl he needs to be focusing on, These guys are the future of this country.

It's a huge injustice that those in genuine need miss out out due to those that "work the system". It's the same with homeless people begging on the street, I'm sure that there are many that are genuine, however passers by give nothing as there are so many for whom begging is a full time job. I wish I had the answer, I just know that making unrealistic headline grabbing claims is not it.

Absolutely. My offspring have fairly recently got on the property ladder and their monthly outgoings have dropped. The problem is overall property prices and the deposits required. However, once on the ladder, owners smuggly enjoy watching prices increase (myself included), although such increases are not as high now, if at all, as they have been in recent years.

This is true. I sometimes have occasion to be on Victoria station (Central London, for those up north) with a lot of time to kill, and have observed beggars (with the obligatory mangy dog) periodically empty the collecting bucket so that it doesn't seem like they are doing too well - hence the apparently poor earnings.
I expect they have the chauffeur and Rolls-Royce waiting to collect them at the end of the day!
