General Car Chat / Remap questions
« on: 11 March 2024, 19:16:31 »
Hi all not posted on here for a while since my Omega finally became beyond economical repair however I have been lurking in the background of the to see whats going on. I now  drive a Insignia Elite  2.0 ltr Bi Turbo diesel and am considering a remap so looking for advice should I just go for a remap done by a specialist or a plug and play tuning box which suppliers claim will give the same gains as a remap any advice would be gratefully received. TIA Tony

« on: 19 October 2018, 20:53:28 »
Hi all just had an e-mail from what they claim is the tv licencing dept. they are reminding me that my licence is overdue . The fact is that the licence number quoted is totally wrong and the renewal date is incorrect by four months, they very kindly invited me to renew it online. ::) Yeah right I'm just looking for my debit card NOT  They even had the cheek to t.m. the licencing dept logo when the genuine licencing organisation don't  >:(

« on: 09 January 2018, 19:12:15 »
Hi all looking at the possibility of buying an Insignia Elite nav either the 163 hp turbo or the 193 hp bi turbo Elite nav quite fancy the bi turbo  but have been told by a car tuner the the parts for the engine ie injectors are a lot more expensive to replace The reason I am looking at Insignias is the same reason that I was attracted to  my Omega elite second hand "you get a lot of bang for your bucks" plus well impressed with the build of the Omega Any input will be greatly appreciated

General Discussion Area / Led Christmas lights advise please
« on: 04 December 2016, 15:08:01 »
Hi all I have set up some outdoor led lights, there are three sets which where originally all independant and where powered by small solar panels. I have since wired all three together in series and have converted them to run off mains supply via a transformer. Currently (please forgive the pun  ::)) running them at 3 volts as 1.5V was not available on the transformer. They work o.k. but I would like to see if I could get them to be a bit brighter would if be alright to up the voltage or would it fry the lot?

TIA for answers

General Car Chat / Mk 2 fiesta sale
« on: 04 August 2016, 17:39:58 »
Hi all, I have a D reg. Mk 2 1100 Fiesta Ghia that I want to sell. It's scrap value is about £65. Anyone give me an idea what its worth? I understand that they are quite sought after for parts for anyone building an XR2i. The bad points relating to the car is it is a CAT C right off. I challenged the insurance company over this as the damage is only cosmetic broken light, bumper and dented wing, but they stuck to there guns. Three damaged body panels rear seats have seen better days, and it also need some welding done on both sides to the point where the suspension connects to the body. The up points are it has done just short of 70K mile genuine.Engine and gear box are spot on, It runs sweet as a nut, It has many usable parts i.e glass, some body panels light units etc. I suppose the best thing to do would be to break it myself but I haven't got the time at the moment any advice would be appreciated

TIA

General Discussion Area / Vapour trail question
« on: 31 July 2016, 17:45:32 »
standing outside earlier this afternoon, clear blue sky and settled upper atmosphere noticed lots of vapour trails for aircraft. Then I spotted a jet liner leaving no trail at all it passed overhead and after several miles it omitted  a very short trial compared to the other aircraft.  Got me thinking why  :-\ anyone enlighten me please?

Omega General Help / Rear springs
« on: 20 July 2016, 16:00:11 »
Hi all, I understand that non self leveling springs can be fitted to a car with self leveling. What effect would that have on the suspension if I where to fit them to my Elite? Also whats your opinion of Lesjofor springs? as I understand KYB are not what they used to be.
TIA
