^ The inevitable consequence of said fault. You did well to ditch it! :(

Mate had a brand new Merc SUV last year which kept cutting out. After numerous trips back and forward to the dealers they finally decided to replace it, with a price adjustment for his mileage on the original one of course. ::) Bit scary on country roads in the middle of the night when everything goes black. :o

That was jimmy944 if memory serves

Yep, sounds only too familiar. Shame some poor sod had to lose his life to make the bstrds take any action. >:(
"Not critical" my @rse. A shameful attitude.
-
Their attitude that the fault wasn't critical sounds arrogant beyond belief

It's worse than that. We're dealing with Bavarian engineers here.... :-X

*waves* sorry I’m late!
Yup, sounds all too familiar, although brakes and steering... not in my case :-\
But indeed all too familiar and an inevitable consequence of the fault, not if, just when. Bastids :-X

Legendary German engineering and build quality ! ::)

So the UK didn`t get a recall until it was too late, but other countries did ???
Is this another case of industry knows best ::) will they never learn >:(

Someone will blame Brexit. ;D

Rods should be along in a minute to blame Putin.

who will 'prove' that Putin openly made Trump do it, via Brexit
-
They have issued a recall for all affected vehicles. Not before time.
-
A red triangle on the road would probably have prevented this accident. :-\

BMW's always used to come with one (all four of mine have) - unless they've stopped that on new (this decade) models?

You expect the driver of a broken down BMW to get out, open the boot, unfold the triangle and place it a sensible distance behind the car? For their own and eveybody else's safety?
On that day, the devil will have skated to work.

Oh yeah, forgot it was Beemer driver. ;)

Yeah, common sense is an optional extra, like the indicators and the "being let out of junctions" kit. ;)

Still fitted to current models. :y

Good to know :y I quite fancy a 24hr test drive (since they keep plugging that on the radio) of a new generation BMW.. I mean, it couldn't be any more likely to break down than my decade old one, surely ;D

They offered me one.
I'm tempted by the new 600 BHP M5............24 hour test drive was for an electric sewing machine called an I3.
No thanks. :-\

Bloke I used to work with had an M135i and then went to the F10 generation M5, beautiful piece of kit, sounded just lovely! He used to do 20k/yr in it, rain shine or snow! Proper petrolhead.
