How do Weds. Ime braking issues cause the car to vear. Where as a chassis fault like loose wishbone bolts, failed bushes or possibly idler , causes the steering wheel to vear.

But good stuff with the callipers :y

Which is what it felt like, there wasn't any pulling on the steering wheel, just the car veering off to the right...

Omega General Help / Veering off to the right under braking...
« on: 17 June 2014, 21:21:17 »
I had been noticing the car veering off to the right under braking getting slowly worse over the last few months. Nothing coming through the steering, just the car changing direction slightly. You make a slight steering input to bring the car back in line and then when the brakes are released you take the steering input back off. Thought it might be front brake or suspension problems but all checked out ok..

Checked the rear brakes and found 3 out of the 4 pads had seized in the caliper  :(

All now freed off, steers straight under braking and braking improved somewhat  :)

I use these guys too...

Came round the last week to hopefully just fill up with gas but found a leak in the dryer. He wasn't sure how long it would last but topped it up anyway. Unfortunately A/C failed yesterday on a 150 mile trip home from Norfolk. I'll have to try and plead with them to come and fix it this week :-)

Always an excellent service from them...

Well they came as promised, spent a lot of time trying to cure a leak from around the dryer after replacing it, eventually traced to a cracked pipe at the flange on the connector block, looks like a new condenser  :-[

10/10 for effort as they knew I was going away this weekend but unfortunately were unable to fix it...

Omega General Help / Re: Top strut mounts?

Tigg, for checking purposes, car on the ground, undo the top nut, and lift off the cup.

There's another nut underneath it, so you won't release anything vital, but it will give you a clear view of the top of the bush to check for cracks as you turn it lock to lock :y

Don't jack the car without the cup fitted securely as gravity always wins and the strut will drop...

My nearside front has been crashing and banging over potholes for sometime, decided to check underneath the cup, found the nut loose by a few turns, now tightened up.. Hopefully that might go some way to curing the noise..

Must be fun to drive. 5 litre engine - wow. :o

It is  :D

Some people in the know have said the program took 3 months not 3 weeks, the painting fiasco was staged. The seats were removed so they could be found. And dust/dirt was thrown over the car to make it look worse..

On the Dyno.. About 30hp down due to a faulty Knock sensor

The noisy bit.. 5lt V8 320hp (usually)...

Watched the program. Didn't think it was as bad as some of the others they've done...
Having seen some comments on a 928 forum most of the 'problems' are all made up for TV

I requested my fathers service history from here

 https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records#service-records-of-deceased-service-personnel

Cost £30 and I got back about 12 A3 photo copied sheets of his service records, quite interesting stuff about where he was stationed. It will only give administrative information and not any exact locations or military records. But its a start..

I wish I asked him the 'what did you do in the war daddy' question a few more times  :)

I have a server running Windows Home Server (WHS) this makes images of 2 PC's and 2 lappies every day (or when they are on) From that I can either restore from an image in a few hours or find individual files from within the image..

I also rent space with Carbonite an off site server service where I back up any directory within my main PC, mainly documents and pictures.. It will automatically upload any changes made to the selected directory..

I can also access my Carbonite service from any other PC or smartphone.

As said before, not if, but when...

Omega General Help / Drivers door unlocked but wouldn't open
« on: 24 December 2013, 15:41:19 »
Just spent and entertaining couple of hours hacking a hole in the drivers door card to get at the lock mechanism, the central locking worked fine but you couldn't open the door with either handles.

A search through the forum turned up this thread

 http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=83372.msg1090455#msg1090455

Mine was in one piece and not as worn..

After breaking off the plastic cover over the lock I found a lever that operated on the four pointed cog just wasn't engaging properly, by the use of a screwdriver got the lever to engage and the lock came open...

Its a bit of a struggle getting in the passenger side and clambering over to the other side...

Anyone have the above. Had to cut a hole in mine to get at the lock mechanism..

I think the whole budget was spent on GoPro cameras  :) :)
