Title: Miss-fire on startup
Post by: tunnie on 08 July 2019, 09:03:59
Recently the 3.2 has been lumpy  on startup, if I blip the throttle a few times it clears and is smooth.

This morning though, appeared to be a little worse, clear miss fire which did clear.

Could be unrelated but it’s also using coolant more recently as well, maybe a cup or so every 500-1000 miles.

Thinking for lumpy/miss it could be coil pack, plugs are 2 years old GM ones. Need to read codes later.

You could spend some of your breakdown cover saving on servicing it...

Reading the codes is free using the pedal trick, but I would suggest that you will get 0300 and 0302, possibly 0304 too.

Camcovers should be in your near future...

Read the codes, 300 and 305. Inspection does show quite a bit of weeping at back on drivers bank, so that matches up.

Cam cover gaskets then, oil in wells, might pop drivers bank out when it cools down. Time for a trip to sereks I think!

Don't bother pissing about...

Do both and clean all the breathers properly...

And don't leave it, unless you want to buy new CPs as well.

Knowing its a very common issue, you should really be giving it a visual inspection regularly anyway, whilst doing the routine stuff :y
