Title: Latest Mustang
Post by: BazaJT on 30 November 2017, 19:15:13
This has received some styling changes inside and out.The 5.0L now has more PS's[whatever they are]the smaller engine may also have this increase too.Again the 5.0L gains a 10 speed auto box and has settings for normal, sport+ and track, there are also two further programmable modes the first of which Ford call Mymode where the owner/driver can "tailor" the car to their own preferences. The second is called Drag mode which optimises the car for the drag strip :o obviously no one is going to choose this mode while waiting for the lights to change on the local high street ::) ::)

Have driven the 5 litre Mustang in the USA  it was great not bad on fuel either, for the price they are I reckon they are very good value.

I'd find them a lot more appealing if they weren't so ugly. Too much 'design' on a car that needs 50mm sectioned out of the body.

I can't argue with the performance for the price, although I do think there should have been a bigger price gap between the 4 and 8 cylinder cars.

I love Mustang's and last year I saw a brand new 5.0 V8 in red in Sainsbury's car park, then I have occasionally seen it again going around. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I just wish...........and the mpg is not much different than my 3.2 (apparently).  Oh well, dream on! ::) ::) ::) ::)

Do it, Lizzie. They don't cost the Earth.

Just don't bother with the terminally dreary the 4 pot Mustang.  :-* :-* :-* :-*

There not that much more than a Focus RS!

But, with still questionable handling (given the power), horrific safety numbers and styling that would not look out of place on an Essex council estate.....its a bit of a Marmite car  :y

Maybe he would like a drag race against my canal boat fuelled, sludge pump driven, poverty spec, big black pussy?

Yes, a sub six second, 145mph, 300bhp car is really dreary. Makes me wonder why they bothered with the basic spec V8 which is barely any better.

Its a cheap way to a proper muscle V8, but the Mustang doesn't float my boat.  A colleague has one (and older one, mind, LHD as well), and it suits him, as he's into all things American, and what is more Yankee than a Mustang :)

He lives within the M25, so rarely uses it, so cares not what MPG is (and hadn't the faintest idea when I asked him).

The aural pleasure of Detroit V8................. which is not to be confused with oral pleasure. :)

Rumour has it the 2.3 litre 4 pot as used in the Focus RS is a bit of an asthmatic old lump.

Whatever next?. A 1 litre 3 pot Mustang. :-\

I wouldn't call 313bhp and 430 nm of torque asthmatic  ::)

why not? Traditionally they had asthmatic non-crossflow straight sixes that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Brakes and suspension that weren't up even to that 'performance.'

If you want to experience the awfulness of an early Mustang, try a 1300 automatic mk1 Escort on drum brakes.

Early Mustangs were good looking though.

+ 1

Those EcoWank engines are, well, wank  :y

We've had a few in and you have to rev the shite out of them to do anything. Sports cars (of sorts) and "eco" should go to different bars to drink!

It was only quite recently that I'd ever had a drive in one,but since then I've driven a fair few, mainly slightly earlier ones three of which were LHD with one of those being a Shelby. All the ones I've driven have been V8's so can't comment on the 4 pot ones and while none of them are a car I'd actually buy[because they don't suit what I need from a car] I must say that V8 soundtrack can be pretty damned addictive!

Ooops sorry about the previous post....pilot error. I was just about to say that my VXR8 has just had a little tune up,and it's now running a little north of 640 BHP safely.don't think I'll be buying the Mustang anytime soon. ;)

Yep. :)

However, cylinder deficiency is traditional. Even the Mk1 had the option of a wheezy 2.8 i6 with barely 100bhp.  ::)

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chos

0-60 is supposed to be around 4.5 secs, but I don't abuse the car as it will tear the tyres up, and tyres are well over £100+ a pop and also I'm still throwing money at the three Omegas as well,so I just drive the car steady without drawing attention to myself....if that's possible in a car that's bright Lime green. 8) ::)

You do like a challenge  ;D

At least if you do give it some, you have ESP on that... I can think of another car that only has ABS and no traction control :-X Gently does it I reckon ::) ;D

A V8 Mustang would be ideal for a young stud about town such as yourself. :)

Around £500 for the rears and £400 for the fronts for Michelins finest for the Datsun, and I`ll be needing all four in the spring  :'(
