Cars that made Britain great. Channel 5 at 8.
« on: 14 October 2016, 13:57:12 »

This week we have......

Reliant Robin.....Austin all-aggro and the Hillman Hunter.

And there was me thinking  you'd need to search hard and long to find three worse cars. ::)

I quite like the Dolly Sprint.....but how did the All-aggro and the plastic pig make Britain great?

The closest I came to a Cosworth was a 1991(J) 2 litre twin cam Sapphire badged GLX, if memory serves. Went pretty well. :y

Yep, cossie has been on as well. As for allegro and robin, well.....they do a bit of piss taking as well.
Granada, capri, escort and cortina were all fantastic....apparently.

At least the Princess and Allegro made an effort to look to the future.

The Marina was an antiquated sack of shit before it turned a wheel.

It amazes me just how little people actually knew about something that was costing them so much money. The internet has its down sides, but companies just can't get away with stuff like that now.

Many people, especially women, see cars as no more than a means of getting from A to B.

They would neither know or care that the 'technology' used in their new Marina was years out of date before the battle of Hastings was fought. :)

Leaving the Marina to one side for a moment,BL-or whayever name they were using at any given time-did have some very innovative designs and ideas, badly let down by abysmal investment for development etc.Triumph Stag-a brand new 3l V8 complete with casting sand still in the block and dealer mechanics untrained in looking after it.BL weren't the only ones of course Hillman Imp being another such case. The list goes on and the British car industry died as a result.Coupled of course with management complacency that the public would buy whatever was put in front of them and bolshy unions who'd call a strike at the drop of a hat.

Wrong, they only see them as different coloured cars. Try asking the average woman about a car she was looking at. The reply will be "It was blue/red/WHY" :y
