;D
I had a black 2.0 CDX carlton , replacing a radiator was the only thing that was required in the 6 yrs i owned it ...sold with 120000 miles . Rear arch rot was beginning to show but could have been chopped out and made good . Still one or two about for sale here but becoming very rare :y
-
I bought a Cdi manual version with 100000 on the clock, back in my mini cab days, serviced her every 5000,and she carried on all the way up to 325000 :o Apart from the the diff trying 2 imatate a 747 on take off ;D. and few headaches with second hand fuel pumps, VX wanted £250 for a new 1 and that was 12 years ago. I can honestly say I have nothing but respect 4 the Carlton. And of course if i ever win the lotto, Im pretty sure i would replace it with another Carlton can anybody guess which 1 ;)

Considered that on mine but then along came the 3.0 manual omega ::) plus the diff was making some weird noises on the carlton ...My carlton was metalic black , BBS alloys and full leather with all the electrical gizmos .. Dam omega got the better of me ;D
Yours looks in great condition , nice colour too :y

I like that ALOT!
I still have two Omega A's - (Vauxhall Carlton in the UK) and would never sell on my saloon, although the estate is for sale.
You should pop into Total Carlton too - it's all Omega A's there.
www.totalcarlton.com
Tell em I sent you! ;D
-
Tidy looking example. We call Omega-A's "Carltons" in the UK :)

When you guys say ''Omega'' do you mean Omega B and not omega A (vauxhall carlton)?
did you have the LSD diff? I have managed to get a original 2.0 LSD differential to mine now, and it costed enough! :P (those diffs are very rare in norway)
Metallic black i a nice color, and so much electric must be good :) I don't have power steering, electric windows, heated rear seats, abs and so on...
BUT i have a nice interior, i took the interior from my omega B parts car. That came out nice.
The superawesone original seats... The owner before me was a smoker.
The Omega B interior was bolt on.

Yes, the condition is good to be a norwegian Omega, with all the salted winder roads and so on...
I was lucky, the owner before me, He had it since '97 and it had been parked i his garage when he was not driving. But then, in 2008 he took the numer plates off and he bought a new car. After that i just stood in his garage till late 2011, when he randomly contacted me. I did not know him, but he heard that i had some Omegas and loved Opel!
He did not want to sell the car to some idiot to ruin it, so he GAVE it to me for free! I was superhappy and could not refuse that deal.
Short after that i got the car through ''Eu-kontroll'' or MOT as you call it :)
And then the turbo ;)
I will never ever sell this car, i will keep it running as long as possible.

3000 24v is a good engine! I wish i had more money so i can buy one and put it in my car...
Go for straight six! I have only bad memories of the v6... Changed the engine 5 times.

I am a little bit proud of my rear muffler, i made it my self with silencer wool inside. The original fell off by itself..
4'' outlet.

Not good ;D
Best part about owning an older car is being able to fix things yourself , looks like you will be keeping the car for sometime yet . My next task is to learn mig welding so i can do even more repairs , i have the welder already ...just need a few lessons :)

I will always fix my cars self at home, i wil never pay a expensive workshop to change my oil if you know what i mean...
i am never going to sell this car! I will keep it running for many-many years! :)
Welding is a must for every mechanic you know. I have TIG welded since i was ca. 13 years old and now i am 18. It sux to weld with TIG on bodywork... I wich i had a MIG welder in my garage too...
Are you using gas when welding? :)
-
Gas/gasless so i can use either , gasless ive heard tends to spit more . I need to get the gas bottle for the unit yet but have gasless wire already .

Fluxthread is just to throw in the toilet :) Buy gas, then you can start welding :)

Yes thats the name ;) i will use that for trial and error for a start just to get the hang of the settings :)

That is not too bad! you should have more and closer welding points(?) :) i cant see you have burned holes either so your welder was right adjusted to that job :)

That's the purple monster!
It was a Carlton 3.0 CDX - got written off by a rougue lane changer on the M1 in 2008.
His welding has got a bit better since then. ::)

That good for him :) Sad about the purple monster :/
-
Yeah he still misses it.
That weld isnt as bad as it first appears. On that part of the car the metal is thin enough that it will warp under heat very quickly, so the best way to do it is to use lots and lots of small welds to stitch it together.
It doesnt look too pretty but once the trim is replaced that fits along that arch it will never be seen anyway.
-
I remember the wheel arch trim fell off mine and exposed some nasty rot so the only option for me was to cut it out and re shape with fiberglass .
-
Unfortunately a common problem on those.
-
Unfortunately a common problem on those.
It was , that was the only rot on the car tbh
-
Guys, in these days you don't have to weld in body parts, you can use a special glue and that is more than strong enough.
I u use glue you don't have to think about the metal stretching and bendig of the heat when welding ;)
-
Something like Sikaflex then?
-
Something like Sikaflex then?
nonono! I don't know what its called, it is expensive (in norway) and much stronger than Sika.
More and more bodyshops ''over here'' does not weld as much anymore, they just glue it :)
-
I have recently fount out that the rear axle with from Omega B v6 almost fits my Omega A... It has to be welded in some nuts to the two rear mounts :)
If my diff gets destroyed at some point, maybe i will try to mount the V6 rear axle, and that is bulletproof! :)
-
You will be after our treasured V6 parts then ;) soon as the time is right ill be buying another carlton as long as the chassis hasnt corroded too bad .
-
Got a solid 2.6 Estate on my drive going cheap.... :y
-
I have two v6 lsd axels in my garage :-D so i don't have to buy anything :-)

Yes, spare parts is not a problem :) I've had plenty of Omegas :)

I have found out that if i'm going to round my rear arches, i have to have some spacers! ;)
So let's make some! These will be 20mm screwed. far from finish though..
Last year i made some 30mm spacers, they came out nice! Turned the piece and cnc milled the holes.
-
:o
I was looking at spacers today .... they dont look to hard to make you just need the tools for the machining but then again they are cheap to buy unless your going mega wide :y
Do you mean rolled arches :-\ Have only seen that being done once on an omega but never seen the end result :y
-
This is a pretty good home made roller ...
Not sure if that for rolling/flairing/ or both :-\
-
Well done :y

Nono, i mean round them, take front wheel arches and weld into the back :)
Why buy stuff you can make yourself? :P
-
i dont want the flat ones, they look ugly..

Something like this i think.

Two of them are 65mm inside and the two others are 69,3.

Go buy one! :)
-
Although that blue car looks half decent i would rather have a manual gearbox and bigger engine ,,, seem to recall my last 2.0 was under powered from standstill but ok once up to speed .
Go get one i will soon as the time is right :y
-
If you only can get a 2.0, you know, there will always be turbochargers :)

That's the reason Norway sucks for us car lovers, you can't get approved anything but original cars!! :s

Those arches you want to put in are from a Senator. Was quite a common mod when you could get the arches. Rare as hen's teeth now.
-
Those arches are a bit different from them in front, i don't want that..

Yeah not many of them knocking about now , probably all rotten now but the engine would make a good transplant into the carlton :P
-
Oh yea! I want a 3000 24v in my omega..... Expensive engines in norway ;s
8v turbo <3
-
Today i have disassembled my XEV 16v engine.. I will mount a 8v head on it :)
Tomorrow i will paint it pink (Y)
i switched out my non-power steering, steering wheel with a smaller momo one ;)
-
I had a wheel like that on mine but I found it felt a little bit wrong.
Now I have this one:
-
Nice one m8 :-D
-
My old steering wheel started to disintegrate, so I had to get hold of a new one. I was lucky enough to find an original leather wheel on the german ebay, which actually had been changed with a smaller one back in 1993, so it was completely unused! The leather is in pristine condition, have a look yourself:
-
Ohh.. I want that, i really do!
Sometime in the future i will buy a wheel like this, with black spokes.

Today it was å lovely day for making love to my omega <3
So let's have a update in my dinner break:
I took out the bad engine.

I painted my XEV engine block too. I will not use the head on it.
And i have started my power steering project.

It's a euro spec LS I doubt it even had power steering

A while ago i welded a new tooth and grinded of the other tooth on my trigger wheel so that i ''redneck'' adjusted my spark time by 6 degrees later, and it worked! :D So i moved over my trigger wheel to the x20xev engine block.

Don't judge it on the mileage ;)

That's a well known car over on TC - there's a thread dedicated to the work that was done to it a few years ago, so at least some history can be reconstructed.

Found it!

Aye well know on TC and ABS. Owner who carried out the work only sold to move to move Aus. Mileage is pretty
irrelevant on that motor.

Pretty sorted car then , just a few jobs here and there to sort out ... he says its got a few electrical issues though :-\

Hello :)
Me and my buddy welded a new turbo manifold this weekend.
Started with adjusting av weld everything together with a few weld dots.
Went to my work to get a gas reducer so i can use 'internal gas' so i have gas in the pipes when i weld to get a nice weld on the inside :)
D-mounted pipe number 3-4 to weld the separately.
I'm happy about the result of the welds on the inside :)
Welded number 2 and two and welded 3-4 to the manifold. Screwed the flange to a old head i had lying around ;)

I did not made a mistake, the engine was originally a x20xev 16valve from omega B, and that engine has the same block as c20ne,20se,c20let etc. So i put a 8 valve head on the x20xev, therefore xev 8v :)
Nice videos, sound like something is wrong? fuelcut or something?

It's time to give you an update i think.
i welded rounded rear arches on my Omega and painted it white.. I regret the color choice every day, so it will be red again some day.
As we speak my Omega has a standard 2.0 8v and no turbo!! BUT, there is a BIG BUT!! I'm starting on a 1000hp c30se build for my omega and i think i will have quite a sleeper when i'm finished :)
I add a bonus picture of my beloved Kadett
