General Discussion Area / Thanks Marks_DTM and Matchless

Thanks for your time and help in changing rear springs. Made a huge difference, more planted in corners (fast and slow), and even more stable at speed in a straight line.

Top job :y

General Discussion Area / Rover HG - is it HG?
« on: 14 January 2007, 19:45:49 »
Looked at it today in proper daylight.

No coolant in header tank
Mayo under oil filler cap
Dipstick does NOT look like it has mayo, Tunnie confirmed.

Symptons, so she says, when it went was lack of power. Also, no heat in car.

So, is it still HG, or do I need to check something else first...

I'm up in Derby tomorrow with the boss, and will be looking for a decent cafe on the extreme south of Derby/Alverston area - any locals know anywhere?

If you have sent me a msg in last couple of days but had no reply, chances are I didn't see it, so please resend.

General Discussion Area / The Book (Red) arrived
« on: 22 January 2007, 12:35:45 »
The new Red The Book with TC prices in has just arrived (only about 2 weeks late!).  I see oil and coolant has gone up though :(, which is a shame as the Rover will need a lot of flushing :(

A big public thank you to JamesV6CDX for his help today.

He gave up his day off, despite a stressful and unpleasant few days for him, drove a considerable distance to help me with the Rover - a job I wouldn't have attempted on my own.

We read and hear so much bad stuff about the population today, but days like today genuinely restore my faith in the human race.  When someone who I have never met give up a significant amount of his free time to unselfishly help another person is truely amazing.

As I have said in a post a few days ago, I find such things truely humbling.

And he is a genuinely, decent,  friendly guy, and his enthusism for cars is infectious.

So, James, a massive thanks to you, and I am proud to be able to call you a friend.

General Discussion Area / Coil per plug help
« on: 18 January 2007, 10:17:52 »
OK, not quite.

Rover, is has one seperate coil per 2 cylinders, but them coils plug in directly on top of the plug in a similar fashion to coil per plug Vauxhalls.

One of mine had no real connector to plug, just like a ballpoint pen type spring.  So I bought another, and its the same  :-?

The other coil on the engine has a proper connector similar to that found on a plug lead.

Is this normal?

Tunnie is posting at 10am on a Sunday. Methinks he can't sleep again, and wants to play with his new toy....
