Indeed... They are great for getting people stuck in the routine of repeatedly buying things that they cannot afford...

Nope. You think you can beat them at the game, but they are still winning. They wouldn't offer the incentives if they weren't.
Cash back and points only serve to make you spend more.

Regarding the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the sales guy said the car would (according to his research on Autotrader) lose about £13000 over the two year period of the PCP deal I was considering.
Over those same 2 years I would pay £30000 in the form of a deposit and monthly payments. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me. :-\
I'm aware of the 'potential equity' within the car but there is no guarantee of this.

As someone with a modicum of self control, I don't suffer that issue. And the points/miles are a cross subsidy between those who pay their credit card in full every month (me) and those who don't (someone else). That is the system, and I'm using it to my advantage.

Our main servers are in the UK, our DNS auth servers are in the UK. Our mail servers and images servers aren't, but they aint in EU land either. Does that count as Brexit planning on our part?

I wouldn't call it Loose Change, but £60K is what I have available sitting in various accounts saved up for a deposit on a BTL - Includes the tax, and Fees and General TLC that will be required if we could find anything my wife actually "likes" enough to commit to taking a BTL mortgage out on.
The idea of wasting it on depreciation had fleetingly crossed my mind, but nah.

Quite. I take the view that a car is possibly the worst investment it's possible to make other than just burning cash. I'm about to sell a flat in London (no mortgage). I have no intention of buying a car with the proceeds. People have different priorities, my ego is fine with a 12 year old Volvo. I probably will buy another BTL but not in London.

They got away with it by not flying it in close proximity to any hedges or ditches, though.
